I am unreasonably excited about self-driving. It will be the first technology in many decades to visibly terraform outdoor physical spaces and way of life. Less parked cars. Less parking lots. Much greater safety for people in and out of cars. Less noise pollution. More space reclaimed for humans. Human brain cycles and attention capital freed up from “lane following” to other pursuits. Cheaper, faster, programmable delivery of physical items and goods. It won’t happen overnight but there will be the era before and the era after.

Wealth is not zero sum. Elon becoming wealthier does not take away or prevent anyone else from becoming wealthy. The wealth gap in this country is a direct byproduct of the US government devaluing the dollar. Everyone with assets gets richer and everyone without assets gets poorer. It has nothing to do with wealthy Americans stealing from the rest of the country or not paying their fair share.

If you actually cared about increasing the standard of living for the “bottom 59%” of Americans your entire focus would be on resolving the deficit and lowering the cost of energy, not blaming successful Americans for problems that are the entirely the fault of the US government.
