Just a reminder that while some cities are still debating transforming a few blocks of 1 or many 2 streets into places for people, this year Montreal is transforming 11 such streets across 7 neighbourhoods, equalling 9+kms from car spaces to people places.

It’s REALLY important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally AGAINST downtown bike-lanes, later became one of their most vigourous supporters, because of EVIDENCE that bike-lanes are better for downtown business than any street parking they replace.
The CSX fleet of heritage locomotives is continuing to grow with the introduction of CSX 1871 painted in a custom design honoring the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (ACL). First appearing in 1871, the ACL was officially incorporated in 1900 and extended from Georgia to Richmond, Virginia, and later into Florida. The ACL merged with the Seaboard Air Line Railroad in 1967 to form the Seaboard Coast Line, which later became part of CSX. CSX 1871 will carry the ACL colors across our 20,000-mile network, reinforcing employee pride in the nearly 200 year history of our railroad.

Remember, the next time an objector points out an “empty bike-lane,” tell them it’s because they’re efficient. This stretch in #Copenhagen conveys 8 times as many people on bikes compared to cars - but it's mostly jammed cars that we see. HT @anderspreben
For decades now, we have spent trillions to retrofit our cities, our public spaces and our society to cater for cars. It just hasn't worked.
If only we had an alternative.
If only... 🚲

Possibly the most powerful way to inspire the transformation of cities from spaces for cars to places for people is to show what cities have already transformed! Except what you can’t tell from before-&-after photos is that vehicle traffic often actually gets BETTER. HT @iamcais
