@ELmagazine@DillinRandolph Dillin, curious to know your thoughts on similarities (if any) to Webster's attempt to change British English to American English shortly after the Revolutionary War. (Here is one of many articles I found about it: https://t.co/TRBG28qjft)

@MT_at_NCTM A6 The value of "a" telling us if the graph opens up or down. And the incorrect assumption that if a is positive, then we have a maximum. #MTChat
@WeaverPower177 @MT_at_NCTM I agree that technology can sometimes get in the way of comprehension. Somewhat assuming that we already talked about the discriminant and they know what that is/means and can calculate it by itself. #MTChat
@MT_at_NCTM A5. But if they are comfortable with Order of Operations, then I would let them use a calculator right away. I'm not teaching that skill at the moment. #MTChat
@MT_at_NCTM A5. Well, I would have the 2a in parentheses in the denominator so they don't do divide by 2 then times a (which is the Order of Operation rule) :) #MTChat
@bridgetdruken Aw man, did you post the link to the article earlier? I was looking for it, but didn't find it, so was participating "blind" tonight. Sorry. #MTchat
A3 looking at the first and last terms, they sum to 90, the next two terms in sum to -90 (so they add to zero). Continuing the patter, I see another 90 and -90. That leaves 45 in the middle as the only thing to keep. #mtchat
@MT_at_NCTM A4 #MTchat I think the preparation has to start at the beginning of the year. Encouraging mistakes and thinking out loud, among other behaviors.
