@BangkokDi At this point Bangkok authorities so consistently disappoint when they make these kinds of decisions it makes me think if we should just give in and let them turn the city into the paved-over hellscape they so desire...
@imosint Hi! Thanks for all your hard work exposing this and bringing public attention to this important issue - I sent you a DM about possible collab on tackling this - thx!

The UK disagrees in the strongest terms with Thailand’s decision to deport 40 Uyghur Muslims to China. Foreign Secretary statement 👇

This either utter incompetence or total mendacity on behalf of #Thailand's Prime Minister. Either way, it increasingly looks like she and the Thai government have committed a massive human rights violation by forcing 48 Uyghur refugees back to China to face torture & death in custody.
[Update] Reports suggest that the deportation is set to coincide with China's repatriation of Chinese nationals involved in call center scams between February 27-28. Some news outlets report that the 48 Uyghurs have been unreachable since last night, and UNHCR officials have not been allowed into the Suan Phlu detention center.
Fair Party list-MP Kannavee Suebsang said six blacked-out trucks left the detention center at 2:14 AM, escorted by police vehicles blocking access to expressways. The trucks have not returned.
Kannavee urged the Prime Minister to explain the situation, stressing that the Uyghurs must not be sent back to face persecution. He noted that they have been detained for over 10 years without charge and called for a humane solution.
He also reported that a China Southern Airlines plane left Don Mueang Airport at 4:00 AM without a listed destination—two hours after the trucks departed.
The plane had arrived from Xinjiang, the Uyghur homeland. The same aircraft, flight CZ5245, landed at Don Mueang at 11:37 PM on February 26 and departed at 4:00 AM on February 27. China Southern Airlines was previously used by the Chinese government to repatriate Chinese nationals involved in call center scams from Mae Sot.
