Beales has become increasingly anachronistic and irrelevant over the years. B’mouth store closed Feb 2020.
Very sad - killed, mainly, by online shopping I suspect like other department stores.

@GeoffNorcott Back then there were studies showing that certain interventions did increase attainment for boys - but they often increased attainment for girls too.
At the end of it, you’re still left with a gap.
It’s not an easy thing to solve. Educators have been trying for many years.

@GeoffNorcott I left teaching 10 years ago. Even back then, we were trying to close that gap.
We had to report regularly to the Head on what interventions we were using to improve boys’ scores and how effective they were based on assessments.

We do have beautiful mosques. We also have beautiful Christian cathedrals and churches, and other religious buildings.
Mosques number about 1,500 in UK; Christian churches approx 50,000.

@DPJHodges In my experience, a lot of paperwork generated never gets read.
We occasionally put random words like ‘dinosaur’ into our planning to see whether the boss actually checked it.
