Small bakeries are hurting. Rising costs are destroying our margins with little room to increase prices. Yesterday, I was haggling with the owner of a coffee shop that we wholesale pastry and bagels to. She needed to reduce her order but her order was already too low for us to make a profit given daily delivery costs. These small coffees shops are getting squeezed worse than us. But I had to tell her I can’t sustain these small accounts given overhead costs. Feels like we are all at a breaking point. She’s going to look for other supplier but will run into same issues. We need relief.
