#ThoughtForTheDay Two things I have learned throughout my career as an educator, Students, like adults, want to be treated fairly & believe that we care about them. I mean truly care about them, even when they let us down. Let's not make it about us. #Culturize
Today students captioned “memes” in ELA! The catch? Each caption had to follow a specific grammar rule or include a grammar component. I’ve never heard so many giggles while practicing grammar. 😍😍🙌🏻
Need to give a shout out to some peeps who remind me how important it is to use Twitter to help me grow my practice @stem_mest @MicheleFowkes@DMartesi@CoachJonCraig @megburkeNPSD @MNeesonNPSD @Ron_Martiello If you don’t follow these local peeps, you should! #sorrytothoseimissed

A principal recently told me that some parents don't want their kids "just reading" while at school. He asked what research he could share to show those parents that "just reading" has ACADEMIC benefits. Here it the chart I shared. #DisruptingThinking

Students know when a teacher is real. They have a radar for authenticity. Here's 5 tips to help:
* Admit when you've made a mistake
* Say Thank You
* Don't pretend to know it all
* Listen to them
* Use humor/ stories
What else do you use?
1. Take any normal worksheet with review questions.
2. Cut the sheet into slips.
3. Hide those slips in plastic eggs.
Teams collect and egg at random then race back to their team compete to solve as many as they can before time expires! Rinse and repeat. #EDrenaline
