If you are starting a new AI native film studio please reach out to me! We are cooking something that will help you turbocharge your production. Looking for some free beta testers!
fal Assets is live.
Everything you generate on fal lives in one library now: images, video, audio, 3D. Semantically searchable, and instantly reusable as input across Sandbox, Playground, and Workflows.
No re-uploading. No filename hunting. Just "the angry one" or "the sunset clip" and you're back in flow.
You might believe you should spend less time thinking about code because of AI.
I strongly disagree! We’re watching this play out live where tons of AI generated code becomes a liability.
At the end of the day, an engineer needs to be responsible / on call for code that gets shipped to production. If you don’t understand the system you’re trying to debug, you’re probably going to have a bad time.
Yes, AI can help with all of this, if you set up the proper systems. You can have agents triage prod logs, look at errors, etc. You can speed up parts of the investigation, but an engineer needs to make the call. There might be serious customer or financial implications from that change.
I expect the trend continue for trimming dependencies, vendoring code so you can modify it directly, preferring simpler systems with fewer abstractions, and spending waaaay more time thinking about system design and code maintenance.
I’ve said this before, but it’s a great time to get familiar with CS fundamentals and some of the history behind what great software looks like. Many parts will be different in the coming years as AI progresses, but also a lot more than people realize will stay the same.
Introducing fal Assets.
A home for everything you make on fal:
• Images, video, and audio in one library
• Semantic search across your full history
• Save characters and reuse them across generations
• Use any asset as an input in fal Sandbox
This is the right way to think about it. These bugs have always existed, in finite supply.
What we are seeing just the reasonable economic reaction to the cost of discovery going down to zero.
The problem mostly fixes itself when defenders also exploit the same cost structures.
A lot of companies that would have never done anything close to tech are now considering building their own.
A friend with no SWE experience is vibe coding an inventory system that matches perfectly their need.
My prediction is that eventually he will stop since he does not have the experience or time to really scale it, but he tore down a wall that was unthinkable and may end up just hiring a software factory for it.
Their only previous option was to buy off the shelf. New world of possibilities.
Demand for AI-exposed professions, like software engineering, is booming. This is unsurprising to anyone who (unlike Dario Amodei, apparently) understands Jevons Paradox.
I really like this article because it voices for generative media how I feel about software development now that AI is the way to code.
Taste and vision are the defining factors (and always were.) Now, many more people have the tools to manifest theirs.
Announcing World Model Accelerator, fal's new product: https://t.co/KqnZ5uoSGC
We've spent years building the inference layer for generative media. In 2023, we shipped 30 FPS, low-latency, action-controlled diffusion APIs, years before anyone else. Fast forward to today and we've been powering foundational model companies across image, video, real-time speech-to-speech and action-controlled world models.
Now we're opening it up. World Model Accelerator is the system behind it all. Our in-house inference engine hits SOTA performance on Hopper and Blackwell for Diffusion Transformer workloads, both causal and bi-directional. Built on fal Serverless, it scales seamlessly from 1 GPU to 1,000+. This is the same platform that's been running real workloads, at scale, for years.
A new WebRTC gateway optimizes latency between users and GPUs (routing requests to the closest region), built on the same infra that powers our real-time speech workloads. And direct access to the fal Marketplace puts your model in front of enterprises spending hundreds of millions on generative media, with a real co-selling motion behind it. This is the infrastructure layer for world models.
It was great to chat with @CarlaStabile to discuss the journey of scaling AI infrastructure at @fal!
We dove into the evolution from backend to infra, managing technical debt, the "one-way door" framework for decision-making, and how to ship fast while growing a lot.
