#Obesity care in the #NHS is an absolute and utter shambles

Why don’t we just be honest and say we can’t afford any of the drugs till they go generic?

Saves lot of people angst.

And less said the better about improving conditions to tackle core issues of obesity

Either needs new leadership or we need to park it in the “impossible” box and focus on other areas.

That is truly awful

Oncology suffers because we always ‘see’ patients. Some services allow year or more waits (psychiatry, rheumatology I believe)

This would rightly not be allowed in oncology

But services are literally beyond breaking point. I see so many colleagues working so hard..

The issue is societal as well as health service related

We have all allowed this to happen to a degree

I never thought I would work in a health system where a young person can get to a diagnosis of metastatic cancer with unknown primary and not a single HCP has seen them face to face.

Transparency is an important aspect of how I have always worked in leadership roles

And I am always keen to understand reasons for organisations not doing their role- or as I perceive it they should be doing

In my view?
The @RCPhysicians has a role in ensuring the public are seen by those appropriately trained, working to a scope and regulated
It's pretty much the charter.

Look forward to a response.

And this has a bearing about future attempts regards doctor substitution.

Wrong. Title "Doctor" comes from Latin (docere, to teach) and emerged in 12thC universities simultaneously for Theology, Law, AND Medicine
eg Oxford.

PhD didn't exist until 19thC Germany. Medical doctorates & academic doctorates share the exact same origin, w/ med being older!

Seems modern PhDs began in 1700s. Prior to that, Priest Scholars were given doctorates to confer teaching licences to serve the elite
