We do not hate that California counts every vote.
We hate that California takes longer than every other state to count votes, even the states with universal mail plus post-Election Day acceptance.
We hate that the signature verification process that bottlenecks the counting is not an adequate safeguard against illegal voting.
We hate that voters have lost confidence in our elections and so voters do not want to participate in them.
And we hate that you oppose every common sense solution to these problems.
@OaklandRooted@CrownDowntown@RBI916 Sac was rooting for the A's to stay in Oakland. But that's over now, they left 2 years ago.
The idea that Sac shouldn't want MLB because Oakland deserves it more is laughable. Sac market has 3.7M residents and a viable stadium plan. Oakland politics will not allow for a stadium.
@Elex_Michaelson@JannaWong Calling Berkeley/IGS the most respected public poll because they're the best of a consistently inaccurate group is kind of like saying Taco Bell is the most respected Mexican fast food because it causes slightly less diarrhea than Del Taco.
@neeratanden None of the Latino candidates for CAGOV managed even a whisper of support until Swalwell was outed as a creep and forced to drop out.
The momentum behind Beccera isn't about his last name, it's because party insiders went all in & anointed him as their best hope to beat Steyer.
@imperialpopcorn@ColiseumSewage Jack London having residents already is irrelevant, the plan didn't touch existing infrastructure. This was for new mixed-use development in the area.
City just thought they could get away with changing the terms to keep all the revenue. Team called their bluff and bounced.
@ColiseumSewage Original plan called for 2 infrastructure districts, one around the ballpark and another for development of housing/commercial around Jack London & the waterfront. The city revised the terms sheet to kill the second part.
You know, the exact thing that makes the Sac plan viable.
Not making anything up my man, the City moved the goal posts on the original agreement. It was meant to be 2 financing districts - one for the ballpark, and a second for commercial development around the waterfront/Jack London.
The City came back and nixed the latter. The only way the deal would work is if they could use the commercial development to offset the cost of the stadium (like the West Sac plan). City played hardball, the team called their bluff, and it was the A's fans that got screwed.
I feel for you all, and I'm certainly not excusing Fisher's role in all of this. But stop giving the City a free pass.
Realistically it looks to be a good deal for all involved. That sort of thing can happen when you have a city that's willing to play ball. Levi's, Staples, Petco and Golden 1 were built with minimal public funds. SoFi, Intuit, Chase and Pac Bell were built with none.
It could have been done in OAK and it's sad that it wasn't. The Laney College deal was a good one that got killed by runaway local political interests. Howard Terminal was no longer viable after the City Council renegged on allowing the team to develop around the stadium, again because of those same runaway local interests.
I hope Oakland can some day get pro sports again. But it won't happen until the voters in that city choose to do something different.
@ColiseumSewage Like I said, the $1B is tied to the ballpark development/entertainment district - taxes and fees on the new housing/office/retail. Not related to current city revenues.
Also, where did you come up with $800M in land? The city just purchased that plot for $3.2M this month.
@MikeHotDogMayor It's actually really simple. They're building an "entertainment district" around the ballpark as part of the project, and it includes a ton of mixed housing/retail. Taxes and fees will be assessed on those units to cover the bulk of that $1B.
@paulmitche11 Granted I'm not exactly the expert on what motivates Democrat voters, but it seems far more plausible that they're looking for more compelling candidates than that they're just holding out for another round of polling.
@Scott_Wiener She isn't even the first antisemite your party is going to nominate for Congress this cycle. Maybe cool it with trying to blame Republicans before looking internally as to why candidates like Platner and Galindo were so easily wrapped in the Democrat banner this year.
@BKFan2_6 Biffle would absolutely despise that you're using his name, accomplishments and memory to drag Jeff Burton. They were close friends/teammates while with Roush, and Burton has been personally responsible for organizing driver tributes and memorials to Greg & family.

My house burned down. I lost everything. I can’t rebuild. As a 42 year old man with 2 kids, I’ve had to move into my parents’ house, and I’m getting attacked for that? This is journalism? This is why no decent people ever get into politics. This is why you only have goblins running everything. God help you if you try to make things right for your community…if you lose your entire town, “journalists” mock you for not making your kids sleep in the toxic dirt on your burned out lot. Who raised you, dude?
I’m too old school for whatever this All-Star race has turned into. Heat races, fan votes, cautions, stages, invert this, transfer that, average this 🤯feels like you need a damn calculator to follow along . Just put em on the damn track and let em race.
