#Delhi is the city of tall #trees and beautiful avenues. 🌳
Someone did a wonderful job planting these gorgeous, shady trees along our roadsides.
And yet, every few days, my heart breaks to see another tree keeling over in the mildest of storms- like this beautiful Saptparni, this morning.

One reason is obvious: concrete, debris and malba packed around the tree base, leaving the roots little room to spread. A tree may survive for years, but eventually its stability is compromised and it collapses under its own weight.

Who is looking after these trees?
What are the regulations governing paving and construction around tree bases?

Delhi has a magnificent urban tree canopy. We need to protect it!
