The Bible opens with “In the beginning God...”

“In the beginning God” tells us time had a starting point. Time isn’t eternal. God is.

The Bible doesn’t argue for God’s existence. It assumes Him. This, to me, is the most obvious truth there is.

God is already there when the beginning begins, which means He exists outside the universe He creates.

“In the beginning God” makes clear that creation isn’t God. Matter isn’t divine. Everything we see was made, by Him.

“In the beginning God” tells us history isn’t just an endless loop. It has a start, which means it has direction and an ending.

“In the beginning God” tells us it doesn’t start with humanity. Meaning doesn’t begin with us or our needs, it begins with God. This tells us that all the big questions, purpose, morality, suffering, identity, fall into place as Creator and creation, not equals.

God comes before light, so energy and nature aren’t ultimate. A thinking, willing mind comes first.

That’s actually what makes science possible. If creation came from order, it has patterns worth studying.

“In the beginning God” also tells us God didn’t need a universe. Creation was a choice, not a necessity.

The four words, “In the beginning God” establish authority. If God is first, He gets to define reality.

“In the beginning God” also tear down idols without naming them. Anything that comes later can’t be ultimate.

Morality isn’t something we made up. It’s rooted in the character of the One who was there first.

That’s what gives human life value. We aren’t accidents. We were intended.

A personal Creator means relationship is possible, love, commands, promises, accountability.

“In the beginning God” reminds us that everything keeps existing because God holds it together.

It also explains why sin is serious. It’s not just bad behavior, it’s rebellion against our Creator.

The hope in “In the beginning God” is that the God who started everything, can and will start it again.

That’s why the Bible ends the way it does. Genesis starts with God creating. Revelation ends with God restoring. Are you trembling at the almighty power of God yet? I know I am.

“In the beginning God” don’t just open the Bible. They explain the whole story.

God never announced a change to the Sabbath. If God was going to move His holy day, that wouldn’t be done quietly through hints or tradition. He would say it plainly. God changes His law by speaking, not by letting people assume.

The bottom line is that the Sabbath is still the seventh day.

Sunday meetings happened, but Sunday was never made holy.

Grace doesn’t erase obedience. It gives us the power to live it.

The real question isn’t which days exist. It’s which day God blessed.

And the Bible is clear on that. God never changed it.

Don’t launder the persecution of the masses to save your friends and money.

Don’t reduce our Great Continent into a graveyard of dreams.

Don’t drink champagne when the masses have no water.

Don’t walk to State House on a blood-red carpet of dead bodies.

Don’t act in a manner that suggests that all you ever wanted from decolonization was to replace white oppressors with black ones.

Don’t feast at tables that rest on the backs of starving masses.

Don’t become individually richer while our nations become collectively poorer.

Don’t fail so badly that those who never believed the Continent could manage its affairs are justified in contending that we are incapable of governing ourselves.

Don’t destroy the will of the people without whom your presidencies would not exist.

We need new leaders.

At The Noble Hands Zimbabwe Trust, we walk alongside children like Waitawatebula, a 14-year-old girl from Binga who wakes at 4am to walk 10km to school barefooted, without sunscreen just to escape the scorching sun that burns her fragile skin. Her brother died of skin cancer at 17. Their story is a painful reminder of the urgent crisis facing persons with albinism in Zimbabwe.

☀️ With climate change making the sun harsher, and only 2 dermatologists in the country, thousands are left vulnerable. Our Vikela Mobile Clinics found that 98% of persons with albinism had never been screened for skin cancer.

🎭 This October, at the 2025 Albinism Konnect Masquerade Fundraising Dinner, we aim to raise USD $70,000 to purchase a mobile clinic truck a lifeline for remote communities. The aim to collaborate with volunteer specialists and bring services to the communities doorsteps.

Together, we can rewrite the story of albinism in Zimbabwe from silence and suffering to survival, strength, and hope.

The Zambian government has been absolutely irresponsible in dealing with the Chinese mine pollution, a catastrophic failure of leadership.

How to Study a Verse

Step 1. Start with context (the backstory).
Ask: What’s happening in the chapter? Who is being spoken to? Why? Don’t jump into a verse without knowing what led up to it.

Step 2. Who’s talking and who’s listening?
Is it God speaking directly? A prophet? Paul writing to the church? Knowing the speaker and the audience keeps you from misapplying the verse.

Step 3. Find the key words.
Look at the words that carry the weight. Check what they mean in Greek or Hebrew. For example, “example,” “eternal,” “desolate.” Sometimes the original meaning clears up confusion.

Step 4. Cross-references.
Let Scripture explain Scripture. Use other verses on the same topic. For instance, compare New Testament warnings with Old Testament history.

Step 5. Look at the original words.
Check the Hebrew or Greek meaning. Words like aionios (“eternal”) or erēmos (“desolate”) show what the writer meant.

Step 6. What does this teach about God?
Ask: What do I learn about His character here? His justice, mercy, patience, or promises?

Step 7. What does this teach about me (and you)?
Ask: How does this expose my weakness? How should I respond? What is God showing me about obedience, faith, or repentance?

Step 8. Application.
Now make it personal. How does this verse affect my choices today? How does it prepare me for tomorrow?

That’s it. Eight steps. Context, speaker, keywords, cross-references, original words, what it teaches about God, what it teaches about me, and practical application.
