When I said Nigerians donât really want good governance but rather power that benefits them, this is exactly the kind of example I meant.
You call yourself a philanthropist who cares about children in the slums, yet you visited the very man whose party has thrown over 20 million children out of school and left millions more at risk of dying from malnutrition.
If you truly cared about those children, you wouldnât be visiting Tinubu, youâd have told him to meet you in the slums. Thatâs where the children are. Thatâs where the suffering is. But of course, optics and recognition matter more than principle these days.
Letâs be honest, if you truly cared about good governance for these poor kids, you wouldnât be smiling beside a president whose administration is choking the nation. Fela, Chinua Achebe, and other real patriots would never accept an invitation from such a leader, let alone show up bearing gifts.
Youâre a chess master, yet you didnât see that this was a political chess move by Tinubu. Just like Davido, youâve now been used; whether you realise it or not as part of a subtle celebrity endorsement strategy.
It hurts to say, but Nigerians are not politically smart. Weâre swayed by recognition and personal interest. Thatâs why the same people keep winning. Thatâs why so-called âgood governance activistsâ keep preaching, âDonât make enemies because of politics.â You say you want good governance, but youâre trying to stay friends with people who are comfortable with a government thatâs killing Nigerians.
Letâs not lie, you donât care about Nigeria. Youâre just looking for an opportunity to join the ruling class. A person who truly feels the weight of what ordinary Nigerians are going through will never be seen laughing with the people responsible for our pain or their supporters.
At this rate, weâll never wrestle power from their hands.

Suppose you buy Dangote noodles or spaghetti for âŠ1000, your âŠ1000 stays in Nigeria while you have value. If Dangote uses your âŠ1000 to purchase raw materials from Ogun, that money creates employment in Nigeria. If that Ogun farmer uses your âŠ1000 to pay his child's school fees, your money has gone into the future of Nigeria. And that is how the Naira will appreciate.Â
But if you buy Italian spaghetti with your âŠ1000, the money immediately leaves Nigeria for Italy and strengthens the Euro, while devaluing the Naira, which leaves you poorer. Therefore, don't buy made-in-Nigeria because it Tinubu. Buy it for yourself.Â
