We are currently seeking nominations of qualified individuals who can edit the journal Political Research Quarterly (PRQ) from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2030. This four-year term is renewable for a two-year extension. Self-nominations are welcome.
Does linked fate among women of color (WoC) shape evaluations of WoC politicians?
@joycehnguy@AcademicAjd & @chanknathan show solidarity matters: when WoC feel a shared fate across racial lines, they’re more likely to support WoC pols.

🚨new pub! 🚨
My first (!) first-authored academic article with @AcademicAjd and @chanknathan, “Ladies’ Choice: Intersectional Linked Fate and Public Opinion Toward Women of Color in Politics” is out in @poqjournal! (1/5)
The project adds to our understanding about the identity and solidarity origins of political behavior among minoritized social groups, which may be especially relevant to the LGBTQ+ community during Trump's second term
We additionally find that stronger LGBTQ+ linked fate is associated with a higher likelihood of turning out to vote, leaning liberal, stronger identification as a Democrat, and vote choice for Democratic candidates
Using a oversample of ~2,000 LGBTQ+ Americans from the 2020 Collaborative Multiracial Post-Election Survey, we uncover differences in LGBTQ+ linked fate across gender identity, sexual orientation, race, and among those who have experienced discrimination
Then we theorize about who within the LGBTQ+ community holds stronger perceptions of linked fate and then think about the political implications of LGBTQ+ linked fate
We begin by interrogating the concept of LGBTQ+ linked fate by situating this, comparing and contrasting this, to the solidarity among other social identity groups in the United States
Excited to share a new article with @GabMagni, "The Group-Basis of Political Behaviour among Minoritized Communities: The Case of LGBTQ+ Linked Fate and Sexual and Gender Minorities" now out in @BJPolS ! 1/x 👇

“The Activation of Anti-Asian Attitudes on Vote Choice”
https://t.co/eFx2AEAhVl
🧵 below:
We conclude by noting the potential relevance of anti-Asian attitudes in an era of continuing anti-Asian hate and in elections that increasingly feature candidates of Asian heritage running for various levels of government.
Using over time cross-sectional and panel data, we find that while anti-Asian attitudes were unrelated to vote choice between 2008-2016, that anti-Asian attitudes became associated with voting for Trump during the 2020 presidential election.
