.@ZackPolanski in Peckham today: “I’ve never taken a penny from oil and gas companies, gambling companies, or private healthcare
*round of applause*
“I appreciate that, but I want to point out that it’s absurd, that a politician is praised for *not* being bought and paid for”
Cycling infrastructure is highly cost-effective due to low build & maintenance costs.
Cost are also low because bikes cause negligible road wear.
Fully segregated lanes: ~£0.5–£2m per km, by comparison urban road widening: ~£5–20m per km.
… so build more cycling lanes 🚲🙏
We do not build bridges in this country because we see people swimming across rivers.
Stop saying there's "no demand" for fast trains in a country where fast and frequent trains don't exist.
15 minute cities remove absolutely zero rights. It makes places better to live in, easier to go to the shops, schools and services. No one will stop you if you want to drive an hour to an out-of-town shopping centre.
Exactly this. The climate deniers and those who are arguing 'economy' over 'planet', can do so because they will not be around to suffer the consequences.
Two billion kids would REALLY appreciate it if we did more about this than just make a few non-binding promises every year & then instantly forget about them.

Compare and contrast the language.
£3,750 EV grant on a £35k car: ‘helping families’.
Cycle to Work: ‘subsidising leisure’.
And yet cycling delivers TEN TIMES the impact of electric cars for reaching net zero. It’s almost like narrative, not data, is driving policy.
Here’s something really important for everyone to understand.
If we design our cities for cars only, they fail everyone, including drivers.
If we design our cities with many great CHOICES in how to get around, they work better for everyone, including drivers.
Spread the word.
@Mello_Proto@kkrespawned Absolutely, the infrastructure has to be there first. It's a start, but not enough. I get tired of reading these sorts of comments. Just look at any city/country in the world that has good cycling infrastructure. As the lanes were connected, the people came.
