Despite all the chatter, Trump didn't really gain with black voters nationwide: 86% Harris, 12% Trump.

Unchanged from 2020 when 87% of black voters went for Biden, 12% went for Trump.

Black men? Static. 78-20% in 2024, 79-19% in 2020.

Trump 2024 votes = 72,560,841 (50.9%)
Trump 2020 votes = 74,223,369 (46.9%)

Right now he has less votes in 24’ than 20’ (but votes are still being counted)

So - is the story right now really massive realignment/mandate given Trump likely won’t reach Biden’s record 81M+ votes of 2020 and Dems haven’t won the majority of white voters since LBJ was on the ballot?

Or - is the story the roughly 13,404,080 dem voters who turned out in 20’ but not 24’ and finding out why?

To be clear: the way you find out “why” is to ask the voters! Ask the organizers what they were hearing etc? you know - just like people did with the “white folks in diners” in 2016!!! 👀

Well: Record early vote turnout for Black voters specifically in Philly, GA and Detroit is true! They did break records, but traditionally the majority of the Dems vote comes on Election Day. So it was a record because it’s usually mot the case. We will need to wait for the data, but many state based strategists have shared w/me (in general) a similar theory about Election Day votes in some counties.

But it’s too early to say without data and asking the voters directly!!
