"In USA, you see names like Mr Stone, Bush, Cricket, etc yet they make progress. But in Africa, Blessing is begging for data, Happiness is suffering from depression, Wisdom has no sense. We bear good names, but we live bad lives."

Congratulations to all the African countries representing our continent at the World Cup. Your performances have made Africa proud.
Special congratulations to Cape Verde, a nation with a landmass of 4,033 sq km, which is less than 0.5% of Nigeria’s landmass of 923,768 sq km, and a population of about 550,000, which is less than 0.25% of Nigeria’s population of 230,000,000. For context, Cape Verde has about 200,000 fewer people than Ogbomoso. Yet, they reached the knockout stage of the World Cup.
Cape Verde has once again demonstrated that greatness is not determined by size or population, but by planning and disciplined execution. When systems work, even the smallest nations can compete with the best in the world.
Nigeria’s absence from the World Cup is not a consequence of a lack of talent. It is the result of years of poor administration, weak institutions, and leadership that has consistently failed to build sustainable systems.
This is the lesson for us as a nation: if we can get leadership right, strengthen our institutions, plan and execute properly, and reward talent over connections, Nigeria can become a global success story, not only in football but also in other areas.
A new Nigeria is POssible … and Nigeria will be OK. -PO

Marriage was never designed to survive on money alone, just as it was never designed to thrive on beauty, submission, or domestic skills alone.
A healthy marriage is built when two whole people choose to give themselves wholeheartedly to one another.
Before you think about marriage, ask yourself a simple question: Apart from what I can provide, what value do I bring into a relationship?
Can you provide peace? Can you communicate with honesty? Can you remain faithful when life becomes difficult? Can you lead without controlling? Can you support without manipulating? Can you forgive, encourage, grow, and remain dependable through every season?
These are the questions that prepare you for marriage, not simply the ability to earn money or perform traditional roles.
Many men unknowingly tie their identity to their ability to provide financially. When life changes and money becomes scarce, some lose their sense of purpose because they never discovered who they were beyond their income. Their pride begins to replace their leadership.
Likewise, many women unknowingly tie a man's worth to his financial capacity. The moment his income changes, so does their respect, support, and willingness to submit.
Both mindsets are unhealthy.
A man's value should never be measured solely by his wallet. His character, integrity, emotional maturity, wisdom, resilience, and leadership are just as valuable.
In the same way, a woman's value extends far beyond her beauty (beauty fades with age), domestic abilities, or willingness to submit. She brings wisdom, emotional stability, compassion, partnership, and strength into the home.
Submission and respect should never exist to feed a man's ego. They are not automatic responses owed to every man. They grow naturally where trust, consistency, love, character, and good leadership exist.
This is why a woman may willingly submit to and deeply respect her husband while interacting very differently with a stranger. One relationship has earned that trust. The other has not.
The same principle applies to love, honour, and commitment. They flourish where they are cultivated.
This is why I have never believed that healthy marriages are built on 50/50.
The idea sounds fair, but it quietly encourages people to give only half of themselves. Half the commitment. Half the sacrifice. Half the responsibility. Half the vulnerability. It creates room for scorekeeping instead of partnership.
Healthy marriages are built on 100/100.
Not because both people will always contribute in exactly the same way, but because both choose to be fully invested. They bring their whole hearts, their full commitment, and their best intentions into the relationship every single day.
When you give all of yourself to your marriage, there is less room for emotional distance, divided loyalties, infidelity, and betrayal. Not because temptation disappears, but because your heart is fully committed to what you are building. You stop looking elsewhere because you are intentionally investing where your future already exists.
A 100/100 marriage also changes how responsibilities are viewed. Raising children is 100/100.
Protecting your marriage is 100/100.
Building your home is 100/100.
Managing finances is 100/100.
Supporting each other's dreams is 100/100.
The responsibilities may look different from one couple to another, but the commitment should never be one-sided.
Marriage was designed to be a partnership where two people complement one another's strengths, carry each other's weaknesses, and pursue the same vision.
Sadly, fear has become one of the greatest barriers of marriage.
Many women hesitate to give wholeheartedly because they have seen men misuse their sacrifices through infidelity, deception, or irresponsible decisions.
Many men hesitate to give wholeheartedly because they fear being used, manipulated, disrespected, or abandoned after years of sacrifice.

As a woman, the last thing that will ever come out of my mouth is that I need a man's money to elevate myself. No man can do that for me, and I am not interested in giving anyone that kind of power over my life.
As a man, have your money for your own comfort and stability. Of course, money is important. You need money for transportation, for dates, for shared experiences, and for the practical realities of life. But the idea that a man must have money to "take care of me" as though I cannot take care of myself is something I completely reject.
Every woman should strive for financial independence. Have your own money. It gives you dignity, clarity, and freedom. When someone else finances your entire lifestyle, it becomes difficult to see their true character. You may find yourself overlooking disrespect, excusing bad behavior, and ignoring red flags because you are afraid of losing access to the resources they provide.
One thing I can proudly say anywhere in the world is that no man can claim he made me who I am. My achievements are the result of my own efforts, discipline, and determination.
If your family cannot provide everything you need, use your hands, your mind, and your talents to create opportunities for yourself. You are blessed with abilities and potential just like any man out there.
A relationship should be a partnership between two capable adults, not a dependency arrangement where one person's survival is tied to another person's wallet.
Go into business and start selling products. There are many products you can sell without even having startup capital. All you need to do is market the products, post clear pictures, and take pre-orders. Once customers pay, you can use the proceeds to source and deliver the items.
There are opportunities everywhere for people who are willing to be resourceful and put in the work. Stop waiting for someone else to fund your life. Develop a skill, start a business, learn a trade, or create a service people are willing to pay for.
The sense of entitlement has to stop. Financial independence comes from initiative, consistency, and effort. When you are actively working to improve your situation, you earn respect and build confidence in yourself.
Part of the reason some women face criticism from men is because they expect financial provision without making any effort to contribute to their own growth and stability. Rather than demanding support, focus on becoming valuable, productive, and self-sufficient.
Dear fellow Nigerians, 😭
No matter how quickly some may have forgotten what past administrations and political leaders have done to us and our families, never forget the period when access to your own money was taken away from you.
Never forget how naira notes were withheld close to the election period. You suffered. You begged. You had money sitting in your bank account, yet you could not access it freely. Even withdrawing your own hard-earned money became a struggle.
Never forget that some people lost loved ones because they could not meet urgent medical bills and other essential expenses. Never forget how businesses suffered, livelihoods were destroyed, and countless families were pushed deeper into hardship. The economic damage set Nigeria back in many ways.
We were told it was about changing the currency, yet cash suddenly became available during campaigns and after the elections. Many saw it as a deliberate attempt to weaken the people's freedom of choice. When people are hungry and desperate, survival becomes the priority. A hungry person is more vulnerable to manipulation and less able to think about the long-term future of the country.
Today, ask yourself some honest questions:
Has life become easier?
Can the average Nigerian comfortably afford food and basic necessities?
Are opportunities increasing or decreasing?
Are the promises made during elections being fulfilled?
Year after year, we hear promises. Year after year, many of those promises remain unfulfilled while the struggles of ordinary Nigerians continue.
Nigeria needs leaders with a clear vision, leaders who are committed to economic growth, national development, accountability, and restoring the country's reputation on the global stage. A nation cannot prosper when public office is treated as a means of enriching a few people while the majority continue to suffer.
When the time comes, remember your experiences. Remember the hardships. Remember the sacrifices. Let your vote reflect the future you want for your children and the generations that will come after us.
You have endured enough. You have worked hard enough. You deserve a country where your labour is rewarded, where opportunities exist, and where citizens can live with dignity.
I believe in Nigeria because we are abundantly blessed with natural resources and immense potential. As citizens, we deserve leadership that translates those blessings into a better quality of life for everyone.
We deserve peace. We deserve security from insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping. We deserve good roads, reliable infrastructure, quality healthcare, and access to the basic amenities that make life dignified and productive.
We deserve quality schools that can properly train and equip our young minds with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to compete and succeed in a rapidly changing world. The future of any nation depends on how well it educates its children.
We deserve to work hard and earn a fair reward for our labour. We deserve an economy where honest work can provide food on the table, a roof over our heads, and a decent future for our families.
Nigerians are resilient, hardworking, and resourceful. The issue has never been a lack of potential. The issue has always been whether our resources and opportunities are being managed in a way that benefits the people.
Nigeria can be better, and every Nigerian deserves to experience the prosperity, security, and opportunities that our great nation is capable of providing.
When the time is right, let your vote count.
Vote with wisdom.
Vote with your conscience.
Vote for the future.
If you have to give someone money before they can love you, respect you, or treat you well, then you're in for a very long ride.
Any relationship built on monetary value cannot stand when money is no longer part of the equation. The moment financial support becomes the foundation of the relationship, it also becomes the condition for good treatment.
As for those who have placed their girlfriends on a weekly or monthly salary, sorry o. You think you're being loved, but you may simply be financing an experience.
Stop the payments for a few months and let's see if the love remains the same.
Let's see if the calls are still as frequent.
Let's see if the affection is still as warm.
Let's see if the patience is still there.
Let's see if she still chooses you when your wallet is no longer speaking on your behalf.
Because real love appreciates generosity, but it does not depend on it to exist.
Many people confuse being needed with being loved. The two are not the same thing. A person can need your money, your lifestyle, your provision, or the comfort you provide and still not genuinely love you.
Life happens. Businesses fail. Jobs are lost. Unexpected responsibilities arise. Nobody remains financially comfortable forever.
And when the consequences of what you've built finally meet you, it will be much like the parable of the wise and foolish builders.
The wise man built his house upon a rock. The foolish man built his on sand. For a season, both houses stood. From a distance, they may even have looked equally strong. But when the rain fell, the floods came, and the winds beat against them, the one built on sand was washed away because its foundation was weak.
The storm did not create the weakness. It simply revealed it.
Relationships are no different.
A relationship built on character, loyalty, respect, trust, and genuine affection can survive difficult seasons. A relationship built primarily on financial benefits starts shaking the moment those benefits disappear.
The true test of love is not how someone treats you when you're spending money. It is how they treat you when there is nothing to gain.
When hardship comes, when the money slows down, when life stops being convenient, that is when the foundation becomes visible.
Never confuse access to your resources with appreciation for your person.
One is transactional.
The other is love.
And if the relationship collapses the moment the money stops flowing, then the problem was never the storm. The problem was what the relationship was built on from the very beginning.
It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.
