The autistic/ADHD desperation to hold a thought until you can action it or write it down, because if you stop thinking about it for even a *second*, it may vanish, never to return.
PSA for autists: when people say “there is no rush to do this, just do it whenever you have some free time”, they usually expect you to make progress on it within 1-2 weeks (depending on the context). The “whenever” is not intended to be read literally, rather as “not right now”.
Does anyone else find that as they get older, video games make them nauseous?
It’s not like I grew up with just side scrollers. I played more 3D games than 2D games growing up. But I find that now, my eyes literally hurt, I get a headache, and I get motion sick when I play games

My autistic, ADHD brain will forever be grateful that podcasts can run at 1.5x and 2x speed. The ability to speed them up is what makes it possible for me to enjoy them. I find it so hard to focus on or process auditory stimuli that moves at an average/slow pace.
As an autistic person, I tend to avoid conversations because: I rarely know when to speak; when I do speak I get talked over; I’m rarely included by a group, so don’t have the info/rapport to make a solid contribution; and people respond differently to me than they do each other.
For years, my autistic brain’s benchmark for friendship was so low that I mistook many acquaintances for friends. E.g. I mistakenly saw friendship if our paths only ever crossed incidentally at a shared location (school, work, uni) and we routinely shared pleasant conversations.
We all compromise in friendships- adjusting ourselves a little to fit with the other person. But this should feel natural and like something you want to do. You shouldn't feel anxious about getting in "trouble". Friendships are supposed to feel safe.
ADHD is having the day off and thinking of 1,000 ways to enjoy it, deciding on none of those, and laying frozen by your own inability to choose an activity.
