Does anyone recognize this material collected from beaches around Iceland? My classmate is working on documenting #marinelitter and #invasivespecies around Iceland for her thesis and could really use the help in identifying! #iceland#science @Haskolasetur
Had my first dive in the Arctic this past weekend! 🥶🤿 Also so happy to be back at @UiTNorgesarktis on an @EUErasmusPlus study exchange for the semester!
BREAKING: ORCAS AND A BABY PILOT WHALE 😱😱😱😱
Yesterday our team found a group of playful #orcas and to our absolute astonishment amongst the orcas was a newborn pilot whale. There were no observations of pilot whales in the area the whole day. Where did this baby come from? 😱
MaPP has created a Regional Kelp Monitoring StoryMap -- a community-based resource about the importance of #kelp along the Pacific Coast. https://t.co/QK2DBQ6SCl
That’s a wrap in Tromsø! I think I’ll be missing the Arctic for a little bit ❄️ What a great experience at @UiTromso, hope to be back someday 😊 #UiTFishMigrations
Over the past two weeks I have been taking a course on #FishMigration at @UiTNorgesarktis. Today we got to practice both internal and external fish #tagging. Can’t recommend this course enough— great lecturers, international cohort of students, and lots of hands on learning🐟📡🗺
Today we celebrate the #INTERNATIONALDAYOFWOMENINSCIENCE! Both courses during the current module are taught by early career researchers, Dr. Ingeborg Klarenberg (GIS) and Dr. Uta Reichardt (Talking Science). The CMM masters program is also led by scientist @VMendezAragon
In response to the mass die-offs of California sea cucumbers in Nanoose, BC, we'd officially like to ask the dive community to please count healthy and diseased sea cucumbers on your next dives and report your observations here: https://t.co/GGeHyrxbt3
Are you fishing for rockfish?! We need your help! If you capture one of our tagged fish, we’d love to hear about it - please follow the steps in the poster to collect your (rockfish hat) prize.

It’s very hot in #Vancouver right now so don't forget to keep your hummingbird syrup feeders properly cleaned and filled. Also, why not put out some water for the local birds to drink and cool off in? #HelpTheBirds
How do we define a successful fishery?
In many cases, success involves recovery after a collapse due to #overfishing. This seems flawed. Shouldn't success be maintaining thriving ecosystems & communities?
