Been living in DC since 1995. Love this city, food, travel, policy and politics. My thoughts are my own and retweets should not be considered endorsements
Maybe there's a silver lining here and we'll see fewer DNC conspiracy theories now that people have a vision into the actual capabilities. They're not rigging anything.
Seeing coverage of Congress as a young man in Indiana, I remember watching Barney Frank run circles around bad-faith arguments with his formidable intellect and unique political style.
Years later, I’m not sure I would have had the chance to serve if Barney Frank hadn’t demonstrated that courage, commitment, and skill can matter more than others’ imagination about what voters are “ready” for.
He will be missed, and remembered, for generations.
DeSantis has declared war on all 1.3M Puerto Ricans in Florida. He cracked our community into 4 different districts.
We are American citizens. Our people died serving this country. And we will fight this in court and the ballot box. ⚖️ 🗳️
A baby otter at a British sanctuary, who was initially afraid of water, gradually becomes accustomed to it and learns to dive thanks to a device devised by zookeepers that requires it to enter the water to catch fish.
DeSantis declares war on Central Florida's Puerto Ricans / Hispanics. He violates the US and Florida Constitutions in the process.
This is not about any one person, including me. This is about destroying representation for our community. It’s wrong. ⚖️ https://t.co/6Ik1yZi0ez
Pope Leo: “I think it’s very important to understand that the unity or division of the Church should not revolve around sexual matters. We tend to think that when the Church is talking about morality, that the only issue of morality is sexual. And in reality, I believe there are much greater, more important issues, such as justice, equality, freedom of men and women, freedom of religion, that would all take priority,,.”
I'm old enough to remember when Father Robert Barron decried U.S. military intervention in a Muslim nation and argued strongly that the president was violating just war tradition.

Today, JD Vance said Pope Leo has bad theology. It brought to mind something David Bentley Hart said years ago 👇
"Most Americans think of themselves as Christians, but the only religion in America that ever flourished was America. And it twists everything into its own image ... the American religion, which is about civil order, prosperity, capitalism, a moral code that is not premised on forgiveness so much as upon judgement."
And in the same paragraph, on converts 👇
"[L]ike converts everywhere, to everything, the version of the religion to which they converted they cling to more fiercely than people who were born Orthodox. For them it's an ideology they've adopted, so it must be pure. And because they're evangelicals, that also means simplified, inflexible and cruel."
Trump attacks the Pope in a Truth Social rant, calling him “weak” and attacking his views on foreign policy, Iran, and even his legitimacy as pontiff—claiming he wouldn’t be Pope if Trump weren’t president.
Pope Leo: “Enough with the idolatry of self and money! Enough with the display of power! Enough with war! True strength is manifested in serving life.”
Snowcrete LIVES!!!
Suzanne Gordon, a CWG reader, had noticed a "snow mountain" near the garage behind the Plant Sciences Building at the University of Maryland in College Park on March 15. She was curious if it was still there on Thursday (April 9) this week.
It WAS!
"It's still more than four and a half feet long and at least a yard high at its highest point," she wrote to us. "I think the longevity of this huge hunk is pretty impressive."
We agree it's impressive. But if it's still there, we doubt it will survive through early this week, with highs soaring above 90.
Is this the last surviving Snowcrete in the DMV?
Recall the Snowcrete storm was on Jan. 25!
Pope Leo at Easter Urbi et Orbi: “Let those who have weapons lay them down! Let those who have the power to unleash wars choose peace! Not a peace imposed by force, but through dialogue! Not with the desire to dominate others, but to encounter them!”https://t.co/IyhnstmlNj
