On the 27th day of September 2010, The UN Humans Rights Council under Resolution A/HRC/15/L.16 called upon States to protect judges, lawyers, prosecutors and their families against violence, threats, retaliation, discrimination, interference and harassment as a result of discharging their functions!

Therefore the state of Uganda is expected to respect the UN Resolutions and protect the rights of Lawyers.

This is to call upon the State of Uganda to release Hon. Counsel @EriasLukwago_ incase his arrest is as a result of discharging his Proffessional legal functions to Dr Kiiza Besigye & Ors.

Today the President of Peoples Front for Freedom has been abducted by the Military from his home at Lubaga-Wakaliga, following his announcement that he was going to serve the court order issued by Justice Emmanuel Baguma, summoning him to appear before him on the 30th of June, 2026, to answer Human Rights charges against him.
We suspect the CMI carried out this operation, and we are yet to discover where they deposited him.

Dr. Kizza Besigye has been on remand for more than a year now over charges that are only known to two individuals but can't be proven in court.

One of his lawyers, Eron Kiiza, was arrested in court and charged in a military court martial.

Another lead lawyer, Elias Lukwago, has been abducted and taken to unknown detention.

Dear UG media: An arrest requires physical restraint or clear submission to lawful custody. Abductions and detention in “safe houses” or basements do not meet that threshold. They are not arrests, they are unlawful detention and clear violations of constitutional rights.
