BREAKING: The BYU School of Medicine has received preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), authorizing the school to recruit and admit students and launch its MD program.
@byumedschool will welcome its first students in July 2027 and will begin accepting applications in the coming weeks following activation of its listing on the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS).
The BYU Board of Trustees has also approved plans for the school's future home, a 275,000-square-foot building on BYU's West Campus, just east of Intermountain Health's Utah Valley Hospital—the School of Medicine’s primary clinical affiliate. Construction is expected to begin in 2027.
Continental Congress HAS SIGNED A DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE!
The UNITED STATES are OFFICIALLY INDEPENDENT from BRITAIN.
LIBERTY BELLS ring out throughout Philadelphia; the streets ERUPT IN ECSTASY.
The Savior loves all of us and is tenderly calling for you and for me to “Come home.”
Feeling we don’t belong, struggling with doubts, or being limited by traditions are just a few of the reasons we don’t immediately find our way home. But even as societal pressures pull people away from faith, life’s deeper questions don’t go away.
Only Jesus Christ can fully restore that light and joy into your life. We all struggle and need patience, service, and love from each other. To those who are trying to help, hold on to truth and keep your covenants. To those who are struggling, know you are loved and the Savior is calling you home.
I witness that Christ is our Redeemer. When we fall short, He repairs the breaches in our lives. The Savior loves all of us and is tenderly calling for you and for me to come home. Come home. #GeneralConference
Enduring to the end is not merely a relentless determination to grit our teeth, hold on to the limits of our physical strength and mental capacity, and push through the challenges and adversities of mortal life; it is so much more than that.
Enduring to the end is linked inextricably to the spiritual gift of charity, or the pure love of Christ. As we are blessed to receive this supernal gift, a transformation occurs in our spiritual nature and character. Charity encompasses both what we do and what we can become as this spiritual gift ultimately possesses us.
As we follow, love, and serve the Savior, we gradually focus less on our own desires and interests, and more on understanding and addressing the needs of others. We do not merely perform benevolent deeds; rather, our state of being is changed and becomes increasingly Christlike. Charity, then, ultimately possesses us.
The scriptural phrase “endure to the end” is a repeated reminder of the mighty spiritual change in our hearts that should be ongoing throughout our lives; it also is His promise of what we may become if we truly are possessed of the pure love of Christ. #GeneralConference
Because of His greater love, you get to try again and again and again. Nothing is impossible with Christ’s love. No matter how broken you think you are, Jesus Christ’s love is for you.
The Savior invites us, no matter where we are at this moment, to walk with Him (see Moses 6:34).
We don’t have to achieve some minimum level of ability or spirituality before He will take an interest in us. His invitation and His hands are extended right now, and all are included.
The Lord is preparing His Church and His people, those who bear His name, to receive Him. As part of our preparation for His coming, He will lift each of us so we may rise to spiritual challenges and opportunities unlike any seen in the history of this world.
How, then, can each of us participate in this work of such magnitude and grandeur?
When we take repentance as a joyful opportunity because of our growing faith that Jesus is the Christ, when we understand and believe that Heavenly Father hears our every prayer, when we strive to obey and live the commandments, we grow in our power to receive continuing revelation.
The Holy Ghost can be our constant companion. A feeling of light will stay with us even as the world around us becomes darker.
As we pray and grow our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior and our Heavenly Father as our loving Father, we become a vital part in the Lord’s work as He prepares the world for His Second Coming.
God’s creations include both “things to act and things to be acted upon.” And moral agency is the divinely designed “power of independent action” that empowers us as God’s children to become agents to act and not simply objects to be acted upon.
A primary purpose of the Creation and of our mortal existence is to provide us the opportunity to act and become what the Lord invites us to become.
We have not been blessed with moral agency to do whatever we want whenever we will. Rather, according to the Father’s plan, we have received moral agency to seek after and act in accordance with eternal truth.
President Dallin H. Oaks has emphasized that the gospel of Jesus Christ invites us both to know something and to become something through the righteous exercise of moral agency.
And yet our works and desires alone do not and cannot save us. “After all we can do,” we are reconciled with God only through the mercy and grace available through the Savior’s infinite and eternal atoning sacrifice.
Many of us may expect that our appearance before the bar of the Eternal Judge will be similar to a proceeding in a worldly court of law. A judge will preside. Evidence will be presented. A verdict will be rendered. And we likely will be uncertain and fearful until we learn the eventual outcome. But I believe such a characterization is inaccurate.
The fear of the Lord is not a reluctant apprehension about coming into His presence to be judged. Rather, it is the prospect of ultimately acknowledging about ourselves things as they really are and as they really will be.
Ultimately, we are our own judges. No one will need to tell us where to go. In the Lord’s presence, we will acknowledge what we have chosen to become in mortality and know for ourselves where we should be in eternity.
If our desires have been for righteousness and our works good—meaning we have exercised faith in Jesus Christ, made and kept covenants with God, and repented of our sins—then the judgment bar will be pleasing. #GeneralConference
My first sight-giving, life-giving encounter with real evidence of truth did not come with anointing clay or the Pool of Siloam. No, the instrument of truth that brought my healing from the Lord came as pages in a book—yes, the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ!
The claims of this book have been attacked and dismissed by some unbelievers, their anger often matching the vitriol of those who told the healed man he could not possibly have experienced what he knew he had experienced.
The impact in my life of the Book of Mormon is no less miraculous than was the application of spit and dirt on the blind man’s eyes.
I came to my whole-souled conviction that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a true restoration of the New Testament church and more because I cannot deny the evidence of that restoration. Since those first experiences, I suppose I have had a thousand—ten thousand?—other evidences that what I have spoken of today is true. #GeneralConference #HearHim
The Lord expects us to be peacemakers.
Difficult as it may seem to be, we have the responsibility to pray for those who may persecute us, as Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount.
We need to learn to leave judgment to Him.
Even after doing all we are able, sometimes life still does not turn out the way we hoped it would.
Singleness, childlessness, death, chronic illness, mental health challenges, divorce, and myriad other circumstances in mortality can feel debilitating to our eternal progression—but Jesus Christ will make up the difference in His own way and in His own time.
We have a Savior who has taken upon Himself not just the sins but also “the pains and the sicknesses of his people … that he many know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities” (Alma 7:11–12).
The Lord has promised that in the eternities no blessing will be denied His sons and daughters who keep the commandments, are true to their covenants, and desire what is right.
I’ve spoken recently about the need for peacemakers. On this Father’s Day I feel gratitude for all the fathers who act as peacemakers in their homes and communities.
My own father was an example of this during my childhood. And I have tried my very best to carry over his righteous influence into my own family, which now includes hundreds of people—each of whom I love dearly!
Fathers, as you become peacemakers in your homes, you can literally thwart the influence of the adversary. As you demonstrate the charity that true followers of Jesus Christ manifest, the Lord will magnify your efforts beyond your loftiest imagination.
As you follow the Prince of Peace, you will become His peacemakers.
Jesus Christ didn’t just help those who were considered outcasts and sinners—He loved them with all His heart. Just imagine how much He loves you too … and those around you! This Easter season, experience His greater love, both for yourself and for others.
As we enter in this new year, let us prepare for an Easter celebration of the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ culminating in His Resurrection—the most glorious event in history—and contemplate our own future resurrection.
How grateful I am for the profound meaning of the universal Resurrection, which is made possible by the great plan and the boundless love of God the Father and our Savior Jesus Christ. #GreaterLove
@UchtdorfDF This is such an important truth! I couldn't agree more. God has confidence in us and allow us to make our own decisions. He will always do what's best for us and our growth (2 NE 26:24).
When you ask God for guidance about decisions in your life—including some important decisions—He may not give you a detailed answer.
The truth is that sometimes it doesn’t matter to the Lord what you decide as long as you stay within the fundamental covenants and principles of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
There are times when God has a specific path He wants you to follow. There are also times when He will warn you against certain choices because of dangers you can’t foresee. But then there are times when a question has multiple “right” answers, and you can find joy in any of them as long as you live by God’s eternal truths.
You may not see it until much later, but you will look back and know that the Lord never abandoned you, even when He let you make some decisions for yourself. You will see that the dots do connect.
