Some more photos from our STEM Day with VSAREC a few weeks ago -- we had a blast engaging with local Governor's School students and learning about their passions for coastal resilience. 🌊 #VTcoastal
Shoutout also to Jennifer Greeson for having the courage to observe that post-May 4, exec admin is pushing a fear-driven narrative of being scared of students; needing protection; needing training to break up student protests...
prof. laughon, from nursing school, speaks to medical response. there was a large amount of chemical irritant released, with one student potentially entering seizure & prevented from receiving care. the macing was immediate & pervasive. the university did not provide medical aid.
@mtgillikin as someone who manned the medical tent for ~a majority of saturday, there were absolutely no professional medical assistance for everyone hit with the ‘chemical irritant known as pepper spray’ as it was mansplained on the town hall
Here's UVA official policy: "All tents must be permitted by Environmental Health & Safety prior to being erected. Final approval is not granted until the tent has passed inspection by EHS."
The doc reads that it was last updated last year. "Guidance" was quietly updated this AM.
It’s crazy that even our president has decided to hide behind a screen and a policy that was changed This Morning. One that touts student safety but then thought it would be a good idea to involve state police? Make it make sense.
The @Center4Politics student internship program - a @UVA class like no other! Thanks to all our students for your GREAT work this year.

“the best camera is the one you have with you”
the @uva post with the highest engagement this week is a collection of photos i made on a $15 thrifted point and shoot camera
a true testament to the power of grassroots activism and the voice of the community — beyond elated to see tangible steps in the right direction toward affordable housing in cville!!
“‘Jesus Christ,’ muttered UVa's architect after it became clear the vote was unanimous. She and two of her UVa colleagues left the meeting shortly after.” 🏗️🏢 @rmest0

before my impending retirement as an opinion editor at @cavalierdaily next month (tears), i decided to write one last time about uva’s decision to oppose the 2117 Ivy Rd zoning proposal - https://t.co/7KIYLphpo2
charlottesville continues to endure a housing crisis that affects students and consequently marginalized communities - this proposal would create more housing opportunities for students while reducing this burden placed on these disproportionately affected neighborhoods
