We've been seeing a lot of these types of posts over the past few days. So we put this together as an explainer.
Now keep in mind that we (US_OGA) are the small companies that produce oil and gas - not the big boys that are fully integrated and produce, transport and run refineries. We don't do that. We just pull it out of the ground and sell it to whoever will buy it.
But those other guys are bad at explaining things because they have comms teams that are scared of their own shadows so we have to do if for them sometimes.
That won't keep some of you from yelling at us. So be it.
But yelling at us is like yelling at a farmer for the price of a box of cereal.
But here you go. This might answer some of these questions.
I love that one of Tucker Carlson’s arguments is that Hitler “said” he didn’t want to fight Britain. That’s true. He did “say” that. Hitler also signed a ten-year peace deal with the Soviet Union, and, two years later, invaded with 3.8 million troops.
This is meant to be some sort of "gotcha" on Rubio, showing him to be just another "Putin puppet." But in reality, this is a common sense position; NATO isn't going to admit a state that is currently at war over its own territorial integrity.
That would be utter madness.
Capitalism has a curious habit of creating luxuries faster than socialism can declare them necessities. Two hundred years ago, free modern healthcare and today’s standard of living would have ranked somewhere between a unicorn and a personal dragon. Capitalism creates the impossible; socialism arrives afterward to explain that mankind had been entitled to it all along.
Tired of this excuse. First of all, social security is not something you “pay into.” If it were, you wouldn’t need younger people to “pay into it” in order to get your check. But you do. Because this is a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. What you really mean to say is that your money was stolen from you — which it was — and now you want to steal from younger people to get restitution. That’s the actual case you’re making and it’s exactly as morally deranged as it sounds.
Second, your generation continually for decades voted for politicians who would keep the scheme going. You might not have invented social security, but you damn sure made certain it kept going. Why should younger people have to pay the price for the shitty policies you supported?
Third, you “paid into” social security in a different time. The country is now bankrupted and 40 trillion dollars in debt, and basic things like housing are prohibitively expensive. It wasn’t like that when you were young, because your generation of leadership created this problem.
So the theme here is that there are a bunch of problems you guys either created or contributed to. You can choose to pay the price for that now, or force your grandchildren to pay the price so you can live comfortably until you die and leave them holding the bag. You’ve chosen the latter, and I think that’s wrong. Simple as that.
The big issue here is not that they want their Social Security that they paid into for their entire lives.
It's that people in my generation & down KNOW this program will collapse & we'll be holding the bag.
Socialism fails 100% of the time. You always run out of other people's money.
In all the movies and shows I have seen about the Salem witch trials, the accusers were always men, and women were burned alive. Nobody was burned alive. 25 people were killed, 6 of them men, and the accusers were all women and girls. We have been lied to.
I understand that the social security conversation is political poison. But I’m not running for office so I don’t care about that. Taking huge chunks out of the paychecks of young working Americans in order to pay for the retirements of older Americans who have a net worth several times higher, all to prop up a system that everyone knows likely won’t be there when those younger people are retirement age themselves, is morally abhorrent and economically insane. Everyone knows it, too, but we’re held hostage by elderly politicians who refuse to surrender power, and older voters who, as a group (with exceptions, obviously), simply don’t care all that much about the financial and cultural future their grandchildren will inherit.
I’ll keep it a buck 50 here. If you sell out your country for free chips and salsa, I think of you less as a person.
That being said, I think restaurants were going to pull this stunt regardless of tariffs. They just wanted an excuse to do so.
If you believe Trump said it was a small price to pay for Iran to wipe out Los Angeles and San Diego, you probably still believe the “very fine people” hoax too.
Our B-1s didn’t leave RAF Fairford on a normal rotation. They got out. Some reportedly launched before the tankers were even alerted. The Bone doesn’t need them to get home but that eventually would’ve been nice.
Downing Street says the base is “safe.” Noted. We still pulled every bomber home after suspicious vehicles, arrests, bail, and fresh warnings tied to an Iran-linked plot.
I’ve flown out of places where the host nation had the perimeter locked down. This wasn’t that.
You don’t evacuate a bomber fleet on a Sunday for a press release. The UK had the warning. They didn’t hold the perimeter.
We did what any crew would do. We left.
