Chatbase

Chatbase is the complete platform for building & deploying AI support agents.

Chatbase powers AI agents for municipal governments across Canada 🇨🇦

Through our partner Blanko, hundreds of cities deploy Roméo, an AI agent built on @chatbase, to answer citizen questions about permits, garbage collection, bylaws, taxes, and more.

It is also connected to municipal information systems via API and integrated with critical data sources such as real-time forest fire risk systems.

People love it: 90% avg satisfaction, and up to 99% in some cities.

I spent time in Quebec last month meeting the team building Roméo and some of the local residents that use it. Def one of my favorite customer stories so far 👇

@humphreysu It's been amazing to work with Blanko on this and see them leverage their deep domain expertise to transform our product into a service that is truly adapted to the needs and legal requirements of municipal customers.

Founder on founder: @yasser_elsaid_ sat down with @ericciarla at @firecrawl's SF office.

1.5M+ users. 190K+ GitHub stars. $75M Series B. Now scaling with Chatbase.

Why they pivoted, what's driving their hypergrowth, and his advice to other founders.

Toronto has insane tech talent 🇨🇦

But ask anyone here where they’d go to do the most ambitious work of their career, and the answer is usually “move to SF” or banking/consulting.

Let’s change that.

There is an interesting, fast-growing AI startup here where you can do your life’s work. It’s called @chatbase . We’re on our way to $100M ARR bootstrapped, and looking for the best to join us.

We’re growing our Toronto office and hiring 20+ smart, driven people across:
- Growth
- Sales
- Customer Success
- Engineering
- Content

Working here will be intense. 5 days in office, long hours, high expectations. But you’ll have more ownership and impact here than anywhere else, and be able to watch everything you touch grow in real time.

If you want to do something crazy together, comment and DM.

This pool care brand in Australia is the clearest preview of who wins sales in the AI agent era.

They turned the store aisle into their strongest sales channel. And they did it by being first.

Hy-Clor is our client. I sat down with their Group Marketing Manager, Andrew Miller, to get the full story.

The biggest benefit they got from their agent was it becoming their product advocate.

They put kiosks in the pool aisle across 350 stores of Australia’s largest home improvement retailer, think Home Depot. Teaching people about pool care and recommending their product at the moment of decision.

What made them first: they already had the infrastructure, free pool water testing kiosks, then added an AI layer on top.

Once you’re the pioneer, you get in front of every customer.
And that’s the part I keep thinking about.

Hy-Clor basically monopolized the in-store aisle by being first. The same thing is about to happen on the web.
Muse, dots, OpenClaw. Every consumer is about to have a personal agent, and they’re going mainstream fast.

Soon those agents will be browsing the web aisles for us. The businesses that get there early, with their brand advocate already live, get a huge head start. On sales, on brand, on growth.

Your advocate should already be there when you’re not. Not only for people. For agents too.

@chatbase 🤝 @firecrawl

[Yasser @yasser_elsaid_]

Very excited to welcome @firecrawl as a Chatbase customer.

We went to their very on-brand office to film this case study and met @ericciarla, @nickscamara_ and the rest of the team. They’re super nice and have built one of my favorite AI startups.

They shared how they were actually competing with Chatbase early on, why they decided to pivot, and how they’re now killing it while building toward an amazing mission.

Their advice to other founders at the end is very valuable too!

So we're going into a world where every consumer is about to have a personal agent.

These agents will 100x the communication between their humans and businesses.

And it isn't spam. these are real requests from real customers.

It's just that now we removed the friction. So there's a lot more of it.

Real requests from real users who get real benefits if they get served.

So how does a business handle/take advantage o that?

You need an agent that represents your business.

The personal agent represents the consumer's interest. Your business needs an agent that represents yours, it should pursue your business goals.

Your agent needs to adhere to your brand, your policies, your guardrails, while delivering the most value to the customer.

This is what @chatbase is building for.

We want to help businesses build customer-facing agents to represent their brand.

And like most interactions in the economy, the two agants should get to a win-win.

This reduced friction will result in a huge number of business<>customer interactions which will result in an unprecedented growth in the economy.

You need to be early to benefit. This will be your competitive advantage.

"Chatbase enabled us to deploy AI-powered support across a nationwide network of digital platforms serving more than 500,000 landlords and property owners."

That's Henrik Kundrun, Managing Director of KOMTRIGON, the digital agency and technology partner behind many digital services for Haus & Grund, one of Germany's largest membership associations, with 957,000 members.

Across Haus & Grund websites, service portals, and online shops, Chatbase assistants guide landlords and property owners through rental agreements, utility cost statements, and legal forms, and help them navigate each site to find the right products and services.

Chatbase AI agents now handle millions of customer interactions every day.

At this scale, giving teams the right controls matters just as much as making the agents more capable.

This month, we shipped three important safety updates to our agent harness:

1. Automated spam detection
Define what spam looks like for your business with a custom prompt. Messages that match your criteria are automatically ignored.

2. Manual conversation pause
Need to step in? Pause your AI agent and take over any conversation directly from your chat logs.

3. Country blocking
Block traffic from selected countries and control where your AI agent can be accessed.

You can now connect Chatbase to Claude and ChatGPT via MCP.

Everything you were able to do in Backstage, like checking what's driving tickets, updating your agent and deploying new Procedures, you can now do from your own Claude or ChatGPT chat.

We're proud to have LifeTeachUs as a Chatbase customer. A German nonprofit connecting 20,000+ volunteers with hundreds of schools across Germany. Bringing real-world knowledge directly into classrooms at that scale is incredible.

A small team running support across email, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, and calls.
Every hour spent answering the same onboarding questions was an hour not spent on partnerships, product, and growth.

They trained a Chatbase agent on their existing documentation and had it live in days.

“Chatbase allowed us to scale support and onboarding far beyond what our small nonprofit team could handle manually. It feels less like a chatbot and more like an additional team member that is available 24/7.”

Ludwig Thiede, CEO, LifeTeachUs

We did this in Toronto, now we're doing it in SF.

The @chatbase team will be in sf first 2 weeks of October to meet our customers and friends and make some new friends.

If you're a cool startup, we would love to come to your office bearing gifts.
