Mini whiteboards (MWB) are an absolute essential for all classrooms. Here’s why:
- All-student responses
- Immediate corrective feedback
- Gradual release tasks as a whole class
- Check for understanding & formative assessment
- Student self-editing
- Engagement norms
*Daily Tip*
Try and build a culture in the classroom where rewards are focussed on effort. This can be a challenge, but by rewarding how much effort something takes allows you to be more consistent and will support pupils attitudes to their work. #YouGotThis
Considering plotting quadratics using a table of values (at both F/H) and how often it comes up as calc Vs non calc.
Does anybody have any stats or knowledge?

@NCETM thankyou for the day out in Birmingham on the mastery specialist course! It is so good to be sitting down with like minded people outside of the everyday school context! Lots of food for thought on representation and variation and how the intertwine with one another 👌
@amspEMidlands @mathsjem@draustinmaths@alcmaths Perfect, thankyou! Using numberlines for rounding and bounds was an adaptation that I used last year….perfect for a more conceptual understanding! 👌 i love the use with fractions and fractions of amounts too
Help….I recently remember seeing a great resource for intervals and number lines but for some reason didnt ‘like’ or bookmark it so now cannot find it. I need to do integers leading to decimals. I wonder if anybody can help out by retweeting? @mathsjem@draustinmaths@alcmaths
Do you know what’s also damaging to children?
Ridiculous amounts of supply
Masses of teachers leaving
Lack of funding for SEND & special schools
Overstretched mental health services
Unqualified staff teaching GCSE
Huge Ofsted pressure
Cost of living
But yep those 6 strike days 🙄
@Arithmaticks@MrTaylorMaths2@brynspiration Just that simple sentence at the bottom provokes enough discussion to clearly get the point across.
Better than my boring question of ‘what is the problem with using the mean here’
