Canada's craft cannabis industry is under existential threat, thanks to excise duties which make producer profit near-impossible.
#StandForCraft warns that the system needs major reforms, now - before independent cultivators & processors are wiped out.

New @firstweds report on social impact and cannabis legalisation reveals shocking failures on data collection, poor industry attitudes and major consequences of inaction. We need to reframe debate for European context – this is existential for the industry and vital for citizens
@mfcannabis @JazzPharma I think that’s a fair assessment, but also understandable from their end. GW/Jazz spent years and $$$ attempting a pharma route that few others have - I don’t think they’re obligated to *also* lobby for / support others that have intentionally taken a different approach!
@dmacpher @mfcannabis Exactly- I think as long as UN treaty signatories remain under the current terms, you’ll only see domestic rec production (as inefficient as it may be). Will require political leadership and capital to carve out new paths to possible exports (eg inter-se arrangements)
@mfcannabis Eg - German lawmakers have interpreted that exports wouldn’t fly from a legal perspective (b/c UN Treaties etc). Think Thailand’s an exception where legalization v. tied to a local development narrative (and not so comparative Canada-style legalization)
@mfcannabis Do you mean medical or rec? Canada is pretty much the only protectionist medical market (more likely to see countries championing exports w/o providing any meaningful local patient access tbh). For rec I think it’s basically a legal/logistical issue
Our in-house photographer has been working with a local florist on a side project that showcases Kootenay grown cannabis (like our Crunch Berries) amongst various floral arrangements. Check out more of his work on IG: https://t.co/3Ir2332YdU
