I had the incredible opportunity and pleasure of sharing my dissertation research yesterday at #rtb3. I discussed how #pmld learners can assign meaning to touch received through an on-body sign, if they receive a similar touch in many contexts throughout their lives.
@LocationistUk@DavidFPoole Been on for an hour and 8 minutes and I am informed every minute that there is help available online...if that helped I wouldn't be wasting my time on hold🥴😵💫
I got lots of love over on Instagram for my Autumn sensory space🤗.
There are sensory lights hanging up, & scattered around, tree barks & leaves (& soon pinecones and twigs) for exploration, chimes for some cause & effect, a basket of toys for play, and soon..a gruffalo!
New term, new a frame activities✨️
This one is inspired by our new topic on Africa. We have some African materials, wind chimes we bought at an African Market last week, artificial jungle leaves, and beaded chains wrapped around the stands.

I took my class to visit our local @LushLtd store today, and we had a fantastic time thanks to the lovely, welcoming and accommodating staff!👏
They gave us lots of things to smell, and brought out water bowls so we can see/feel bath bombs and bubble makers in action!
For reference, my class are an amazing group of children with Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties #PMLD.
We are currently learning about Witches & Wizards and making lots of potions, so what's a better place to visit than Lush!
Last week, I set up a sensory bonfire experience for my class. These are some of the things we had going on. Running over the bubble wrap in their wheelchairs & listening to the crackling fireworks through the speakers were definitely the favourite! #pmld#pmldclassroom
Little Sunday afternoon downtime with my @TPositiveTC planner🍂🧡.
Super excited for tomorrow morning's sensory firework experience, hoping I remember to take some pictures when it's set up! #mytptcweek#pmldclassroom
So excited to have one of these at the local park! We had a great time during our community learning slot.
Smiles all round- especially the higher we pushed! 🤗

I visited the wildlife park & cafe with my #PMLD class today. We sat in the cafe nearby the gibbons enclosure and had a sing song. And then the gibbons sang back at us!🤩🤗
Everybody stilled to listen- it was such a magical yet well timed moment!
Coming to the end of my probationary year now & got the call this morning- I've been offered a job as an ASN Teacher in my dream school!🥳🥰 A specialist school where I used to be a support assistant.
Keeping my fingers crossed for a #pmld class now!🤞
Connelly (2019) in @PMLDlink compared the responses of a child who had low levels of engagement and participation when partnered with an adult and when partnered with a peer, finding greater engagement in the peer communication partner.
Connelly (2019) in @PMLDlink practitioners may not recognize the attempts of people with profound and multiple learning disabilities to initiate peer communication.
