@StatisticUrban DC statehood is, I personally believe, 100% unconstitutional. The Constitution very specifically lays out how the federal district will work and how it will not vote.

The awkward unknown is if you change the “formula” somehow, do we call a theoretical future loss of representation still a loss? If so you need 100% of the states to agree

It is not something you can overwrite. You may not have chosen that part to be special, but remember historically each state was a mini-nation

@Arbeitologist I mean... learning by doing is a thing IF preceded by a brief actual period of learning. Reading obviously still amazingly efficient. Video amazingly INefficient 90% of the time so I agree there, but I think "learn by doing" is the wrong framing for their worldview

@philhchen But for those like me trying to launch their career at the very start, it feels almost impossible. It’s a real rough cold start problem, and ATSs are a near impenetrable gate. How on earth are we supposed to get someone to take a chance on us, or prove soft skills?

@simonw Can't remember if you've said something to this effect on your blog, but I foresee eventually a parallel-channel setup: AI-AI interactions, and human-human interactions, clearly separated. Otherwise, time is a resource, and it becomes too easily asymmetric...

@ZixuanLi_ Modern frontier models are still kinda bad at using up to date Polars code. And in that vein, data exploration is missing from a lot of agentic workflows! Reading graphs can be surprisingly iffy and the models don’t seem to “get” reliably how to query data flexibly/purposefully
