In 1947 Pakistan is the only country that got true independence.
On the other hand India never got independence but a 99 years lease of independence was issued to India. 🤣
That is why British illegally gave Kashmir to India cause they wanted to claim it back after 99 years. We have only 20 years of free India left.

Jinnah chose him twice.

First to argue Pakistan's borders before the Radcliffe Boundary Commission.

Then to represent Pakistan to the world as its first Foreign Minister.

Sir Muhammad Zafarullah Khan. Sialkot, Punjab. Born February 6, 1893.

Government College, Lahore. LLB, King's College London, 1914. Lincoln's Inn. Bar called.

He practiced law in Sialkot and Lahore. Elected to the Punjab Legislative Council in 1926.
Presided over the All-India Muslim League's Delhi session in 1931 where his presidential address championed the cause of Indian Muslims.
Round Table Conferences, 1930 to 1932.
Member of the Viceroy's Executive Council for Railways from 1935.
Judge of the Federal Court of India, 1941 to 1947.

In early 1940 he prepared an analytical note on constitutional options for India, including a two-state approach. A copy was seen by Jinnah around the time of the Lahore session.

Jinnah noticed.

When the Radcliffe Boundary Commission convened to draw the lines that would become Pakistan's borders, Jinnah sent Zafarullah Khan to argue the Muslim League's case.

Then in December 1947, as Pakistan came into existence with no diplomatic corps, no foreign policy infrastructure, and no institutional memory, Jinnah appointed him the country's first Foreign Minister.

He held the post until October 1954.

At the United Nations Security Council between 1948 and 1954 he argued for Kashmir's right to self-determination. He advocated for the liberation of Libya, Eritrea, Somalia, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco, Indonesia, and Palestine.

A former Prime Minister of Iraq wrote after his death that no Arab could have served the cause of Palestine as this man had.

He left the Foreign Ministry in 1954 to serve on the International Court of Justice.

Judge at the ICJ, 1954 to 1961.
Pakistan's Permanent Representative at the UN, 1961 to 1964.
President of the UN General Assembly, 1962 to 1963.
President of the International Court of Justice, 1970 to 1973.

He is the only person in the history of the United Nations to have served as President of both the General Assembly and the International Court of Justice.

Not the only Pakistani.

The only human being. Ever.

He was an Ahmadi Muslim. He said so openly throughout his life. He faced sustained discrimination in Pakistan because of it. The country he helped bring into existence through the Radcliffe Commission and then represented to the world for seven years placed him under pressure for his faith until the end of his life.

He served Pakistan anyway.

He died in Lahore on September 1, 1985. Aged 92.

Jinnah chose him twice.

He justified that choice entirely.
