@nickkokonas Still feels off to pull “service” out as a separate charge, but not linens, composting, dishwasher chemicals, repair guy fees, etc. Do extra fees start and end with “service,” or do we also charge 20% to add white truffle, to have nice plates, and for stowing your luggage?
@nickkokonas I don’t necessarily disagree, but I do remember when a bag, beverage, peanuts and seat choice were included in the price. We’ve been hospitality ncluded since 2015, as a “fast casual” plus. Different model, but many fast spots are adding tips these days.
@nickkokonas Appreciate your detailed thoughts here. Why not move toward a no service charge, no tip, “hospitality included” model like the rest of the economy?
@DrArwady Please give restaurants clear guidelines around exposure for vaccinated people. Should vaccinated workers who are exposed follow CDC guidelines (no need to quarantine, wear masks, test after 3-5 days, monitor symptoms)? Or do something else? Or should we just close?
I fought to deliver critical relief for restaurants with the #AmericanRescuePlan.
But the job is not done.
I’m proud to stand with @SenatorCardin to push legislation that will provide $48 billion in additional funds for the SBA’s restaurant program.
@JoeNBC You think we should reopen restaurants before all restaurant workers have a chance to become fully vaccinated? I say we wait a few more weeks to get that done.
The kids and adults that do gun violence prevention work may look often times ok but none of us are all of us do this work because for many the worst possible thing imaginable happened.
This work comes from a place of love for those we lost but also incredible trauma and pain.
@chicagosmayor@GovPritzker a fry cook cannot work outside. A dishwasher cannot zoom into work. Please include restaurant workers in 1b now. We have no options. We mask, we distance, we health check, we isolate and quarantine, but we cannot not come to work to do our jobs.

@chicagosmayor@GovPritzker appreciate your leadership on Covid. Please include restaurant workers in group 1b. Even with endless safety measures, the hard working team at my restaurant cannot avoid gathering in enclosed environments to be able to cook and feed Chicago
“Here’s the thing about life. There’s no accounting for what fate will deal you. Some days you need a hand. On other days, we’re called on to lend a hand. That’s how it has to be. That’s what we do for one another.”
No one understands this better than @JoeBiden.
