What Ruchika Sharma did on that panel wasn’t meticulous scholarship, it was rhetorical containment.

She kept insisting “Left and Liberal are different,” while speaking the exact language, priorities, and blind spots of the Left ecosystem:
– history as a closed canon
– legitimacy decided by who controls departments
– dissent reduced to “loudness” and “theatrics”

Her entire strategy was familiar:
shrink the question, then declare victory. 🙃

@jsaideepak wasn’t shouting or posturing. He was questioning the very premise that “Hinduism vs Hindutva” is a natural or neutral divide and asking who gets to impose that framing.

Instead of engaging that question, Ruchika retreated to definitions, credentials, and what she called “settled” positions. That move shuts down inquiry rather than answering it. That’s not dismantling an argument. Or winning a debate, That’s refusing to debate anything outside an approved vocabulary.

The irony?
She mocks the Right for “not producing historians,” I don’t even start listing the names…. She can do her own research….while her own work has faced criticism for overreaching claims that don’t survive basic source scrutiny. When that happens, suddenly the Left’s favourite words …peer review, nuance, context n go quiet.

So no, this wasn’t facts vs framing.
It was framing disguised as facts.

She didn’t dismantle the argument.
She refused to leave the comfort zone where her assumptions are never questioned.

And that’s the tell.

Nothing in Scandinavia is free. It’s all paid for by capitalism — and 45% tax rates on everyone.

Denmark, Sweden, Norway don’t seize the means of production.

They’re capitalist countries with big welfare programs.

Markets are open. Businesses are private. Capitalism funds everything — then they tax the hell out of it.

Under socialism, the state owns the factories.

In Scandinavia, the state just takes half your paycheck. Big difference.

So when Mamdani and the socialists point to Scandinavia as their model, ask them why their policies look nothing like Scandinavia.
