If we don’t stop excusing bad & reprehensible behavior with bad & reprehensible behavior from the other party, we will never be better. Ted Kennedy, Bill Clinton.. both did horrible things. And so has our President. Stop making excuses & pointing fingers, people. Demand better.
“Send her back” is an appalling chant. Omar is a US citizen.
My less-catchy chant would be: “Condemn her bigotry, combat her radicalism, and investigate her seriously alleged fraud!”
I think all Americans should be mandated to binge watch every episode of The West Wing. It would make everyone, Republicans and Democrats, want more from our leadership than what we are receiving. @WhitfordBradley@AllisonBJanney@RobLowe@DuleHill
@secupp is brilliant. This article puts into words how I have been feeling about our current President since before he was even elected. I want the POTUS to be a role model for my students, regardless of policy or ideology.
I don’t agree with many of the “squad’s” progressive policies. I am still a registered Republican. But in America, we should be able to discuss policy/ideology without resorting to name calling and racist comments... especially when you’re sitting in the Oval Office.
America was built on dissent. If you think it’s okay to tell American citizens to go “back where they came from” just because they look differently and believe differently than you do, you don’t understand our great nation at all. IT IS RACISM, PURE AND SIMPLE.
I am deeply disappointed in the president’s comments directed toward fellow Americans and members of Congress. Use of such language is inappropriate and demeans the office of the presidency.
