The requests continue as trust in the blood supply remains shaken for many. 🩸 🩸

Patients are increasingly refusing standard blood transfusions out of fear of receiving blood from COVID-vaccinated donors.

Blood banks do not record or label donations by vaccination status, so some people are requesting directed donations from known unvaccinated family or friends instead.

A recent review at Vanderbilt University Medical Center found multiple cases where this led to delays in care. In a couple of instances, patients who refused standard blood became significantly sicker while waiting.
