I'm trying not to die in Salt Lake City,
I wish it was a joke but it ain't pretty,
I try to walk & bike bc the air is shit, but if your head ain't on a swivel then you're gonna get hit,
I wish the city had my back,
but you will probably just find me on the black top flat.

I'm incredibly grateful @SLCgov approved my CIP for Riverside Park's looping path. West-siders need and deserve safe and accessible amenities on par with Liberty/Sugar House parks.
all of this fear-mongering around women athletes and their bodies has real trickle-down impacts
I wrote last month about how plenty of women athletes have decided to quit—or were told to quit—before they could even potentially get to the Olympics

I am grateful @SLCgov is proactively seeking feedback on the CIP process. There is much room to improve and to ensure CIP isn't one more lever for worsening West Side inequity through systemic under-investment.
Gabino shared this video of the grape harvest in Bakersfield CA. In the middle of the day with temps in the 90’s, thunderstorms hit the area, making an already long hot day even more intolerable with the added humidity. #WeFeedYou
María harvests strawberries in Salinas, CA. "I have to move quickly as I work piece rate. This means I'm paid for each tray I harvest. My husband also works in the strawberries. We need both of our incomes to be able to pay the rent which is very expensive here." #WeFeedYou
This is the second card this month I've tried to write in that is using verticle lines take up empty space. I actually want to write something, though!
One day we'll look back on fireworks and say "I can't believe we used to pollute the air, terrify our veterans and pets, cause hundreds of injuries, numerous deaths, and wildfires every year in the name of celebration when we had better options at our fingertips".
"Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks, including sparklers. Sparklers burn at temperatures of about 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit—hot enough to melt some metals." https://t.co/tQDOPQsC0I
I had such a blast this week doing the Master Preserver course with @usuextension. I've also done the Master Gardening program. If I could quit my job and learn full-time from Extension I would! Amazing people to learn from.
Farm workers shared this photo with us from where they're planting mango trees in Coachella CA. When the pic was taken these women share the temp was 107°, but the high that day hit 112°. They work in high temps like this from June through Sept. #WeFeedYou#CALOR
Sunday temps reached:
108° in Bakersfield CA,
109° in Coachella CA,
108° in Madera CA,
99° Tallahassee, Fl,
106° in Yuma AZ.
Farm workers were out in the fields, so food will appear on your tables.

A reminder to everyone celebrating Steve Klauke (including media) this week: Steve did not just pass away or die last week.
He was killed by the inattentive driver of a car at an intersection designed like this. Don’t make me tap the sign.
