Building on the foundation of trained, skilled youth, GALDO CBO formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding with T3 Africa Limited & AJ. OSCAR LTD one of Kenya's leading plastic recycling companies establishing a reliable, transparent market channel for all that collected PET plastic waste.

This wasn't a quick handshake. It followed a structured due diligence and negotiation process facilitated by CARE Kenya’s Private Sector Engagement function, carefully bridging the gap between grassroots environmental action and private sector demand.

From classroom to baling yard to recycling facility, the youth of Dadaab have proven that when communities are equipped and connected, real change follows.

This initiative is implemented by @CAREinKenya & @CARE_Danmark through @denmarkinkenya, in collaboration with T3 Africa Limited & AJ. OSCAR LTD.

The path to a cleaner, greener Dadaab runs through partnerships like these.

As part of the From Camps to Green Cities (C2C) Programme, GALDO CBO youth received hands-on training in the full plastic recycling process; from waste collection and segregation, all the way through to baling and market preparation.

This isn't just skills training but building a circular economy that is locally owned, community-driven, and built to last.

GALDO CBO successfully delivered 10 tonnes of baled PET bottles to a recycling facility with the profits reinvested directly into community development and further environmental activities.

Waste utilization and community wellbeing truly reinforce one another. Dadaab is showing the world how it's done.

Update: Response efforts are ongoing at Utumishi Girls Academy in Nakuru County following a fire incident.

Several students have been evacuated and are receiving treatment in various hospitals.

A multi-agency response involving the County Fire Brigade, County Disaster Response Teams, @PoliceKE and Kenya Red Cross remains ongoing.

Kenya Red Cross deployed first responders, @EMS_Kenya ambulances, tracing and psychosocial support teams to support affected students and families.
