There’s a great scene in Downton Abbey about the first time the King of England did a radio address in the early 1900s. The matriarch of the family nailed it on the head when she said that the radio address would lead to a place in culture where the mystery, aura, and majesty of the crown would be downgraded to a kind of sideshow act. This obviously has come true in the modern age.
