@peegroni@history99917180 Some kids found a rusty WW2 hand grenade which I carried in a borrowed red fire bucket, the Sgt was a crap driver and it was swinging and banging against the seat. Left it in the ‘tyres’. Bomb disposal blew it up as it was too unstable, one of my seven lives lost***
@Mesouk From the initial traumatic diagnosis of this incurable disease leaving you in a void your team step in with reassurance, advice and guidance. Rest assured you are well thought off by our community of patients and their carers .
@UKCopHumour Great post and will not be forgotten by either of you. My dad’s last day of service Oldham Football Club - he was match commander, I was a Sgt covering . At the match briefing under the stands he called me forward to stand by his side, simple gesture but very profound.
@JamJarOppo Lancashires had a huge poachers pocket inside. As a young sprog on nights the Inspector called me for a RV and kept me chatting for over 30 minutes, as he left he said “your chips will be cold by now let that be a lesson use the back door of the chippy next time” 🤨
@history99917180 Weren’t we all fresh faced on our class photos, most of us only 19, but at least we had 13 weeks at training school, then 2 years probationary to hone our skills - unlike new copper’ these days trained by colleagues still learning the ropes themselves
@Mesouk Please take this opportunity to chat with other carers, it’s a horrendous terminal disease, those of us that live with the sufferers need to offload to sympathetic listeners , you are not alone (Roy a carer for 18 months)
At the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Occupational Safety and Health (Asbestos) event, chaired by @IanLaveryMP at the House of Commons today. The event, sponsored by Thompsons, is looking at solutions to Britain's appalling record: with the highest incidence of asbestos cancer in the world.
Speakers include @darloliz CEO of @Mesouk , Baroness Finlay of Llandaff, @IloraFinlay crossbench peer and Professor of palliative care and @mandaevs from Thompsons #removeasbestos
@chinnychick Heard you on GB radio, you really nailed it on the importance of repatriation of the wounded and the fallen from the battlefield. Thank you for the insight, best wishes for your future keeping the demons at bay.
@meso_sheffield@ESRC@Mesouk@ARNS_UK@ild_inn @UniShefEngage @ShefSNM @LCN_UK@AsbestosForum At first was disappointed due to the technical difficulties but I urge and encourage patients and carers to watch a very informative presentation - enlightening thank you
@sam_meso@BasingstokePmi@Mesouk@meso_sheffield@Team_HASAG@PSOGI_EC My wife felt distraught coping with ‘meso’. Through the support groups online she found confidence realising other people we’re going through the same symptoms and anxiety. Ironic to think listening to others is a boost, a tonic and reassurance you are not alone.
