Under the guise of “AI innovation”, this Marcos govt has gladly reduced PH into a glorified raw materials depot—stripping PH lands of critical minerals and siphoning them off to feed American tech and military machinery.

In my 50 years of existence and 25 years in public service, I have never witnessed anything like this.

Filipinos—from every corner of the country, from every walk of life—coming together, not because they were asked, not because they were paid, but because they chose to. They spent their own money, brought their own food, endured rising fuel costs, and traveled great distances—some even crossing oceans, like our OFWs who sacrificed days of income—just to stand, to remember, and to offer flowers.

All for a former president.

This is not ordinary. This is not manufactured. This is something deeply felt.

If the accusations against him define who he truly is, then how do we explain this overwhelming outpouring of love? How do we reconcile this with the undeniable truth that he ended his presidency with an unprecedented 82% trust rating—the highest our country has ever seen?

Yes, there are those who disagreed with his methods, particularly in the fight against drugs. But no one can deny that he acted on what he promised. He made it clear from the very beginning—he would be firm, unyielding, relentless against those who threatened the nation through drugs and crime. And the Filipino people, by an overwhelming vote, entrusted him with that mandate.

He did what he said he would do.

And for many, it brought a sense of order, of fear against wrongdoing, of change in the everyday lives of ordinary citizens.

Today, long after he has stepped down, the people still gather. They still remember. They still show up—on their own, at their own expense, driven only by gratitude and loyalty.

I hope those who judge him will see this. Not just the accusations, but the people. Not just the cases, but the countless Filipinos who continue to stand by him.

I hope the ICC judges will see this, set him free, and allow our own country to decide his fate—respecting our sovereignty as a nation. I also hope they reflect deeply on whether this has become less about justice and more about politics—although, of course, I know this may be asking for a miracle.

Because this kind of love cannot be forced. It cannot be staged. It can only be earned.

And the question remains—how can a man be so deeply loved by so many, if he is only what his critics claim him to be?

He is no longer president. But clearly, for many Filipinos, his leadership is still missed.
