A Japanese man named Hirotaka Saito has gone viral after selling his Ferrari to fund a shelter for abused and traumatized dogs.
The 54-year-old former company executive closed his business to dedicate his life to the Wansfree Canine Rescue Centre in Yaizu, Shizuoka Prefecture. The shelter specializes in caring for dogs that have suffered severe abuse, animals so traumatized that they are often aggressive, fearful, and considered nearly unadoptable by most people.
Saito’s decision was deeply personal. Twelve years ago, after his company collapsed, he fell into deep depression and contemplated suicide. On the brink of leaving the house to end his life, his own dog physically stopped him from going. Saito credits that moment with saving his life.
Inspired by the unconditional love and support he received from his dog during his darkest time, he resolved to repay that debt by helping other dogs in need. Selling his prized Ferrari was his way of turning gratitude into meaningful action.
This heartwarming story beautifully illustrates the profound bond between humans and dogs — and how one man’s act of kindness, born from personal pain, is now giving dozens of abused animals a second chance at life.
@nilslofgren@azsweetheart013 I'd just gotten married in Feb. '84 and saw the Born in the USA tour in L.A. later that year. Had been a fan of Grin, so was happy to see you'd joined E Street! I think this is a really nice pic. ❤️🎸🎶
@nilslofgren@azsweetheart013 A favorite of all the photos I’ve ever captured … Canon AE-1 with telephoto lens, 1000 asa Fuji film.
LA Civic Center and you had just joined the E Street Band! At a moment of perfect alignment I got a shot that would speak for years to come! 🎸💥
I have very happy memories of my grandma Bachman and Auntie Mary who raised my dad and his brothers together. Hard times make strong people. #memories#family#childhood#canadian#foryou
Most people came looking for a puppy.
She came looking for someone who needed her. ❤️
For months, this blind senior dog waited while families passed him by. Shelter workers worried his chance had already come and gone. Then a little girl who is deaf walked in with her mom. She stopped in front of him like she already knew him.
When her mom asked why she wanted that dog, the little girl signed: “Because he’s just like me. I’ll be his eyes, and he can be my ears.”That was all it took.He didn’t just get adopted that day. He found his person. And from that moment on, they’ve been inseparable two hearts the world almost overlooked, finally chosen by each other.
“I have cancer, hooman.”
It’s in my liver.
I’ll be going into surgery very soon. But I don’t want any of you to be sad.
No matter how the results turn out, please know that the doctors will do their absolute best. And let me say this again — no crying, okay? I’ve spent my whole life giving you happiness. I don’t want to be the reason you shed tears.
Well done Canada 🇨🇦.
Canada just made a strong move for wildlife. The country has officially banned the use of brutal poison that was used to kill gray wolf and American black bear across the nation.
This poison did not just kill. It caused slow and painful deaths. Animals would suffer for hours. Many did not die right away. Some were not even the intended targets. Other wildlife, pets, and even birds could be poisoned by mistake. It was a cruel method with no control.
Now that changes.
This ban is about basic decency. Wolves and bears are not pests. They are part of the ecosystem. They help keep nature balanced. Removing them in such a harsh way only creates more problems.
For years, people have spoken out against this. Wildlife advocates pushed for change. And now, that pressure has paid off.
This decision sends a clear message. There are better ways to coexist with wildlife. Killing should never mean torture.
It is a step forward. Not perfect, but progress.
And it shows that when enough people care, change can happen.
