We talked to legislators about the importance of fully funded schools, a fix to Tier 2 pensions, and investments in healthcare, childcare, and mental health support.

@PaulVallas 1. Less students = more teacher attention, support and feedback to parents and students
2. Interpretation services for parents to understand what is happening in a classroom will help students learn.
3. More time to prepare lessons means better lessons.
World-class schools are not a dream—they’re a necessity. 🌟 Parents, join us in telling CPS to settle this contract now! Call your Alderperson, speak out, and demand the education our kids deserve. We’re in this together every step of the way.

Today marks 70 years since the Supreme Court handed down its landmark decision in Brown v. Board of Education, outlawing racial segregation in America’s schools.
Let’s honor the memory of the civil rights leaders, families, and children who took extraordinary risks in order to make our schools – and ultimately our country – more fair and more free. And at a time when our public schools are growing more segregated, let’s remember that our work isn’t done until every child can get an education worthy of their promise.
“What if young people that attended Chicago Public Schools were prioritized in the Chicago Housing Authority waitlist,” Davis Gates said of union demands to address issues beyond what’s encompassed in the proposed budget. + https://t.co/ltdSDwpaH4
Where were these city council people when Chicago Alderman EDWARD M. BURKE on racketeering, bribery, and extortion charges for abusing his position to solicit & extort private legal work and other benefits from companies and individuals with business before the city. 12/21/23 #🤡
The right wing of the city council is trying to set a very dangerous precedent by trying to remove a council member because they disagree with actions taken by someone else at protest in which he spoke. This is an incredibly authoritarian move and should have everyone concerned.
@declatom Except they didn’t get evicted and you never came to a meeting to say anything. Lots of keyboard warrior happening here. SMH. And voting no on BCH means you’re taking away permanent housing from people that are getting moved out of shelters. #whohurtyou
@declatom You are at one of those sustainable community schools, what a joke, you all should know and have access to understand that every penny is decided locally and it all goes to student programming, parent engagement, and community support. Where is this coming from?
