@mc_hammah @musings_blonde@courtneyknill Your comment reminded me that 20 years ago i was kicked out of a “friend’s” wedding because i was sick the night of the bachelorette party. She, her friends, and her family harassed me via text for an entire week following. Needless to say, we never spoke again!
@ask_aubry My husband would never TELL me to make him a sandwich, he would ask. And I will GLADLY make him one because he bends over backwards for me. All these guys have to do is to genuinely
reciprocate and they have no idea 🙄
@Humanbeingalso Absolutely, this happens! I work from home and have a flexible schedule, my hubs works long hours away from home. I interviewed roofers, brick layers, contractors, painters, plumbers… and they ALL treated me this way. Didn’t even want to meet with me if my husband wasn’t home.
“Biblical marriage is between one man and one woman.”
No it’s not.
“Biblical marriage” is between one man, one woman, and that woman's slave. (Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar)
“Biblical marriage” is between one man and two sisters after he works seven years for each of them. (Jacob, Rachel, and Leah)
“Biblical marriage” is between one man, his wives, his master’s wives given to him by God, and the wife of a man he murders. (David)
“Biblical marriage” is between one man, 700 wives, and 300 concubines. (Solomon)
“Biblical marriage” is between one man in his 20s and one female child in her mid-teens. (Joseph and Mary)
The vast majorities of marriages depicted in the Bible are between a man and multiple women OR between a man and a female child who was purchased through dowry.
So when Christians talk about marriage today, we should be focused on what is Christ-honoring, not what is “biblical.”
