During the EV mania in 2022 prices peaked at $40 a pound and now they currently trade at 7 year lows bouncing around $12 a pound
With slumping demand for EVs the precious metal integral for lithium ion batteries has taken a significant hit in price

According to Bloomberg, hedge funds aren't the only buyers at these historic lows

China's strategic stockpiling agency has been soaking up surplus inventories of the metal in record volumes this year

Back in late 2023, China added 8,000 tons of Cobalt to strategic stockpiles and reports say there will be around 15,000 tons added in 2024
An International Energy Agency report showed how cobalt will expand 7x by 2030 and 10x by 2050 to over $400 billion
