@mattvsmetaverse My point is that it was the only reason he was described as being marble white was to convey fear. The fear can be conveyed without him being literally white. Nice discussion though
@mattvsmetaverse No I think you are actually missing the point. You’re holding onto the fact that snape’s face turned marble white in the book. And the main point was to express his fear. If this actor can express that same fear without turning marble white then what is the big issue..
@LegendaryAllen I’m repeating myself bc you don’t seem to be grasping my point. And actually many people are saying he can’t be a black man. Yall are hooked on the word sallow as if it is exclusive to white people which AGAIN why I’m reiterating why snape can be played by any race
@mattvsmetaverse Right.. the point of his face turning marble white isn’t to show he is a white man. It was to depict the fear. So if this current actor is able to depict the fear without turning marble white then what is the issue.
@LegendaryAllen Snape’s race is not significant to the character/story which is why snape can be portrayed by any race. A black man just happened to have the best audition
@mattvsmetaverse Will this actors face turn marble white? Probably not. Is it more important for his face to literally turn marble white or to depict the fact he was expressing shock, rage or fear?
@LegendaryAllen I think that’s something for production and make up team to figure out but that doesn’t mean snape can’t be portrayed by a black person
@mattvsmetaverse@LegendaryAllen@ItsLaDarrion I think it’s fair to say that someone face turning “marble white” which was essentially just saying his face got really pale, is not something that only happens to white people. Which is why snape can be portrayed by any race. A black man just had the best audition 🤷🏾
@dinox1138@jaderants Now how does that white English culture affect or influence his character/story.. if we take that “white English culture” you speak of away, what significant aspect of snape’s character/story changes?
