Last Tuesday night, the Santa Clara City Council approved a major step forward for public safety.
When I ran for Chief, I made a commitment to invest in technology to move our department into the 21st century, improve efficiency, and better serve our community.
I made that commitment to this community. And we delivered.
This new data integration platform will help our officers, dispatchers, records specialists, analysts, and detectives connect information more effectively, support our future Real Time Intelligence Center, and generate better intelligence to guide how we respond to crime.
Better intelligence. Faster decisions. Stronger outcomes.
And we are just getting started.
We will continue investing in our team, training, and technology to make Santa Clara the safest city it can be.

Super Bowl LX was a tremendous success, thanks in large part to the massive public safety operation led by the Santa Clara Police Department to keep our community safe.
Just like the refs on the field, public safety is not what the event is about. It is about the game, the fans, the memories, and the joy of coming together. Our role was to make sure everyone could enjoy it without worry.
As the lead public safety agency for planning and coordination, SCPD worked closely with partners at every level to deliver a safe, secure, and memorable event for residents, visitors, and fans from around the world.
We prepared for this over the past two years, and our officers and staff executed the plan with unwavering professionalism and focus throughout the week.
Thank you to our community for your patience and cooperation during Super Bowl week, and thank you to our SCPD team for your exceptional work.
Our mission to keep Santa Clara safe every day continues.

2025 was a big year for the Santa Clara Police Department and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our community. From faster response times to stronger transparency, improved training, and preparing for major events ahead, there’s a lot to be proud of. 1/2
As Chief of Police for the City of Santa Clara, I just returned from Washington, D.C. after attending the Department of the Army and Interagency Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS) Law Enforcement Symposium.
I am grateful for the urgency shown by the @DeptofWar and the @SecArmy on this critical issue, and I am proud that we are putting strong procedures in place to protect our community from illicit drone activity. This work builds on the Counter-UAS Authority Security, Safety, and Reauthorization Act (H.R. 5061), which is advancing in Congress to expand C-UAS mitigation tools, including new authorities for state and local partners.
We look forward to using these tools to help protect Santa Clara and our visitors during Super Bowl LX, the FIFA World Cup 2026, the America 250 celebration, and beyond.

2/ This shooting appears to be an isolated incident and NOT an active shooter.
However, officers are evacuating and clearing the mall to confirm there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
Please continue to avoid the area.
Units are currently investigating a shooting at Valley Fair Mall in West San Jose. Two victims were located and have been transported to a local hospital with gunshot wounds.
Please avoid the area while officers investigate and work to ensure everyone’s safety.

AB 1231 undermines Prop 36, passed by >70% of CA voters, expanding diversion for serious crimes like burglary & drug sales. It limits judicial discretion, risking safety & victims’ rights. As Santa Clara Police Chief, I urge @SenatorWahab to oppose AB 1231 #NoAB1231 #ProtectProp36
