Senior software dev here. AI absolutely sucks with coding for legacy systems. 9/10 prompts still produce code that's unusable, because AI doesn't have any domain knowledge for the system. It still struggles with hallucinations, and will often reference the wrong libraries when generating code.

AI is fine for vibe coding a fun side project, but it is not ready for production yet.
