FOLLOW-UP DISCUSSIONS WITH FUJITA CORPORATION ON TANZANIA’S REAL ESTATE AND INFRASTRUCTURE OPPORTUNITIES

The Embassy held a meeting at the Chancery with representatives of Fujita Corporation, a Japanese company specializing in construction, housing, and urban development. Discussions focused on follow-up to the mission of Japan International Association for the Industry of Urban Development, Building and Housing (JUBH) member companies to Tanzania in July 2025, particularly in relation to opportunities in real estate and housing development.

The company informed that its planned follow-up visits to Tanzania, which had been scheduled for November 2025 to engage further with the National Housing Corporation (NHC), was postponed. However, it expressed continued interest in undertaking the visit in the near future.

In addition, Fujita Corporation highlighted its ongoing involvement in infrastructure development in Tanzania, including the construction of the Dodoma Inner Ring Road, underscoring its continued commitment to supporting the country’s infrastructure and urban development agenda.

The Embassy encouraged the company to sustain its engagement in Tanzania, particularly in affordable housing and integrated urban development projects, and reaffirmed its readiness to facilitate coordination with relevant institutions to support the realization of these initiatives.

Mashindano hayo yalihusisha zaidi ya wanariadha 90 kutoka mataifa mbalimbali duniani, ambapo ushindi huu umeweka historia na kuipeperusha vyema bendera ya Tanzania katika anga la michezo ya kimataifa.

On December 4th, 2024, Embassy officials visited Sakuragaoka Elementary School in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, for a cross-cultural event and were warmly received by Vice Principal, Mr. Yamano accompanied by several teachers. The event provided an opportunity for 150 students and school staff to explore Tanzania’s geography, culture, food, language, tourist attractions, while also learning basic Swahili phrases.

During the Q&A session, students engaged actively, asking questions in both Japanese and English to explore the similarities and differences between the two countries while gaining insights into the role of the Embassy and its diplomatic staff. The students also presented a group project showcasing how Japanese people celebrate the four seasons, focusing on seasonal foods, traditions, and festivals.

Today, the Embassy received representatives from SAKAI Heavy Industries Ltd, a manufacturing company that specializes in construction equipment for roads (Stabilizer). The purpose of their visit was to provide feedback on their trip to Tanzania, held in October 2024; where they attended the 2nd Quality Infrastructure Dialogue (QID), as a member of JAIDA (Japan - Africa Infrastructure Development Association).

During the QID in Dar es Salaam, they had a productive bilateral meeting with the Tanzania Roads Authorities, resulting in a partnership between SAKAI and ZANROADS and TEMESA. By the means of Official Development Assistance Program (ODA), SAKAI are expected to assist the two institutions by providing their stabilizer equipment as well as technical assistance.

We are proud to see the positive impact of this collaboration and look forward to more fruitful partnerships resulting to QID success.

On 10 November 2024, the Embassy @UbaloziJapan joined other Commonwealth Missions based in Japan to honor and pay respects at a Commonwealth Remembrance Day ceremony and to lay a wreath on behalf of Tanzania in Hodogaya, Yokohama at the Commonwealth War Cemetery.

The ceremony is held annually to remember and honor the sacrifices made by Commonwealth soldiers who fought and died during World War II. It serves as a reminder of the importance of international cooperation in promoting peace and the detrimental effects of war on communities and individuals.

On the occasion, Mr. Hosea Chikolongo, Political and Culture Attaché, represented H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda.

Today, the Embassy received Mr. Takashi Hino, President of Hino Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd., accompanied by his Tokyo Business Director, Ms. Shino Ogawa.

Hino Pharmaceuticals, based in Osaka, Japan, specializes in manufacturing natural medicine that incorporates spices in its production process.

Discussions focused on the potential opportunities for the company to expand its spice sourcing from Tanzania, aiming to increase the availability of these natural remedies for their market. The company's major markets are in Europe and neighboring countries in Asia.

📌It is an opportunity for Tanzanian spice companies to take advantage of. All interested parties are encouraged to get in touch with the Embassy.

A MEETING WITH MARUBENI COMPANY TO ENHANCE TRADE RELATIONS AND SUSTAINABILITY OF TANZANIA COFFEE INDUSTRY THROUGH ELPS INITIATIVE📍

Ambassador Baraka Luvanda, together with a delegation from the Tanzania Coffee Board (TCB) led by Mr. Primus Kimaryo, the Director General of TCB, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Marubeni Company Headquarters in Tokyo.

The focus of the meeting was on the Enhanced Linkages between Private Sector and Small-Scale Producers (ELPS) Initiative - an initiative implemented in collaboration with the Japanese Private Sector (involved Marubeni and UCC Company), the Japanese Government, and the United Nations' International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Its goal is to promote sustainable production practices within Tanzania's coffee industry as a PILOT country.

In addition, given that Marubeni is one of the Japan's largest trade companies with a strong presence in Tanzania in trading various food-related products, the discussions further focused on strengthening and expanding the existing trade relations between Tanzania and Japan. Both parties agreed to work together to ensure the mutual trade benefit and the sustainability of the ELPS initiative.

Katika mashindano ya Kilomita 42 wanaume, Mwanariadha Charles Boay Sulle ameshinda nafasi ya kwanza kwa kuweka Rekodi ambapo Fabiano Joseph Himindi akishika nafasi ya tatu.
Kilomita 42 Wanawake Natalia Elisante Sulle ameshika nafasi ya kwanza.

Katika mbio za Kilomita 21 Wanaume Jumanne Maduhu Ndege ameshika nafasi ya kwanza kwa kuweka Rekodi na Marco Sylvester Monko nafasi ya nne. Kwa upande wa Wanawake Kilomita 21 Neema Salimu Kisuda ameshinda nafasi ya kwanza.

Mashindano ya Nagai Marathon 2024 yameshirikisha wakimbiaji 700 na yamezinduliwa na Meya wa Jiji la Nagai Shigeharu Uchiya na kuhudhuriwa na Balozi wa Tanzania nchini Japan Baraka Luvanda, Meya wa Jiji la Dodoma Prof. Davis Mwamfupe pamoja na Mwanariadha wa zamani Juma Ikangaa ambaye pia ameongoza ujumbe wa wanariadha hao.

On October 10, 2024, His Excellency Ambassador Baraka Luvanda and Mr. Primus Kimaryo, Director General of the Tanzania Coffee Board, paid a courtesy visit to the IFAD Japan Office in Yokohama, where they engaged in a hybrid meeting with IFAD staff in Yokohama and Headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The discussions centered on IFAD's initiatives in Tanzania to support agricultural development, with a particular focus on the ongoing project aimed at improving the coffee value chain in the country's southern regions, specifically Mbeya and Ruvuma. The discourse also delved into the significance of ensuring the sustainability of the project and explored potential avenues for future collaborations between the involved parties.

Today, the Embassy joined Tanzania - Japan Friendship Association members, including parliamentarians, former senators, businesses, and other distinguished guests in celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the One Book Association (OBA) and the 90th Birthday of its founder, Ms. Akiko Otsuki.

As a member of the Tanzania-Japan Friendship Association, OBA has made significant contributions in various areas such as humanitarian aid, support for women and children, and education initiatives in Tanzania. The event was a reflection of the remarkable achievements of the One Book Association and the enduring legacy of Ms. Otsuki.

Representing H.E. Ambassador Baraka Luvanda, Ms. Edna Dioniz Chuku, Counselor for Economic Affairs, highlighted the Association's contribution to strengthening the bond between Tanzania and Japan, especially in education and women's empowerment, and how Ms Otsuki illuminated paths to opportunity for countless children and communities, fostering hope and cultivating bright futures for them.

Tanzania Leads in Mining Investments by Australian Companies 🇹🇿🌍

We are thrilled to share that Tanzania has emerged as a top destination for Australian mining investments in Africa, capturing 21% of the continent's total investment from major Australian mining companies.

At the Africa Down Under (ADU) conference in Perth, Australia, Hon. Anthony Mavunde, Tanzania's Minister of Minerals, announced that over the past two years, Australian companies have signed agreements with the Tanzanian government worth more than 10 trillion shillings. These investments are set to significantly boost the country's revenue, create numerous job opportunities, and increase local participation in the mining sector.

Special recognition was given to President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for her leadership in fostering a welcoming environment for these investments. Executives from companies such as Chief, Walkabout Resources, Peak Rare Earths, Black Rock Mining, and Eco Graf praised the Tanzanian government for its proactive approach, which is driving rapid economic growth.

Minister Mavunde emphasized the importance of these companies honoring their commitments, particularly in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), local procurement, and the payment of appropriate taxes and fees to ensure these resources contribute meaningfully to Tanzania's development.

On 1st September 2024, a group of students from Tanzania, currently studying at Akita University, had the opportunity to showcase Tanzania’s unique culture and traditions at the Akita International Cultural Festival 2024, organized by Akita City Authority.

The students, Mikidadi Shaha, Mary Moshi, Kanju Bahati, and George Ngomano, showcased among others, Tanzania richness in tourism attractions, adventures, and natural beauty. Their booth attracted many Japanese visitors who were eager to learn more about Tanzania and some even expressed interest in visiting in the near future.
