"If you want to understand China and how CCP officials enriched themselves in 1990s to early 2000s, Red Roulette is a must read. It’s one of the few insider accounts of how business and politics actually operated in China. . ." Review here: https://t.co/ZYMvFvHT15 @DesmondShum
Just reviewed @DesmondShum's Red Roulette. There are few insider accounts of working within the political system in China so this is well worth the read. Ready my review here: https://t.co/ZYMvFvHT15
Excellent piece by Peter Hessler. Applicable not just to the China field but to the world at large when we judge too quickly and ignore nuance. Sideline Sinology | ChinaFile https://t.co/9gSbo8OCO2

For today’s June 4th anniversary of the Tiananmen massacre, the @mjdanganguan has published a curators letter listing its holdings (all free) of material about that event—now 35 years in the past but still crucial for understanding today’s China.

Today marks the 35th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre. We stand with those in the People’s Republic of China and around the world who fight against injustice and seek freedom, and we remember those who have been silenced.
On the 35th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Incident, we commemorate the students & citizens who bravely marched for change. As #Taiwan deepens our commitment towards human rights, we firmly stand by the belief that the people only truly flourish with freedom & democracy.
