Good to see that 4 of the women involved in the Blank Paper protests have been released!
But we continue to be concerned for #KamileWayit, a 19-year-old #Uyghur student in Henan, who shared some Blank Paper Movement videos and was detained after returning to Atush on Dec. 12

#letthechainedwomanspeak Chinese feminists displayed a large banner to urge the accountability from the Chinese gov, freedom of Xiaohuamei & release of Wu Yi.
She was abducted & forced to give birth to 8 kids. Netizens’s voices were largely silenced. Feminist Wu Yi was forced to disappear for her support. The trial in April failed to hold public officials accountable. Xiaohuamei remains being held in a mental hospital & unreachable.
25 organizations call on the Chinese government to immediately and unconditionally release Cao Zhixin, Li Siqi, Li Yuanjing, and Zhai Dengrui and all other “blank paper” protesters, and to end its crackdown on free expression around the COVID-19 pandemic. #IWD2023
Today on #IWD2023, ARTICLE 19 joins @PENamerica and 23 other groups in calling on #China to release 4 female protesters arrested in Beijing.

We demand 1)Release activists who were arrested for participating in White Paper Protests. 2) Drop all charges &accusations against the activists, & stop any form of punishment, violence &retaliation against them. 3) Stop political persecution of feminists &civil rights activists
Continued attention from international communities may improve the situation of the arrested persons & exert pressure on Chinese gov. We invite anyone who is deeply concerned w/ feminism, human rights issues& civil society in China to sign the open letter https://t.co/ukA5j6xyF2
#InternationalWomensDay is approaching, but young Chinese women are still being politically persecuted for participating in the peaceful White Paper Protests. We demand that the Chinese gov releases protestors who've been arrested & call for more ppl & org to join this petition
Our sisters are detained because they joint the protest against Zero-Covid policy, but they are still in custody after the government dropped the policy.
