I am sick and tired of people who mock those who care about the planet.
Clean air matters.
Living forests matter.
Healthy oceans matter.
This should not be controversial.
Its funny how everyone's idea of heaven is a complete untouched paradise, crystal clear waters, lush green forests, enough food for everyone, classless, moneyless, stateless, a Utopia of peace, unity andhappiness. But here on earth it's considered a leftist ideology.
Before killing an animal for "sport," think twice about it.
Doves form lifelong pair bonds until death, meaning they are monogamous. That's where the expression "lovebirds" comes from for couples who seem deeply in love. They are highly social animals and deeply attached to their mate. If one of the two dies, the survivor often shows signs of distress, apathy, or isolation that human observers interpret as "mourning."
This image was taken by James Yule, a nature photographer, and it represents the grief and pain they experience during their loss.🖤
A German court just banned journalists from releasing what they filmed inside a gas chamber in a pig slaughterhouse.
McDonald’s UK has banned the words from their comments section. Your comment will be auto deleted if you mention how their slaughterhouses use gas chambers.
The USA has laws to stop journalists from releasing footage from inside slaughterhouses. USA slaughterhouses also use gas chambers.
They don’t want you to know what they’re doing to these animals.
Canada built bridges for bears, and the bears used them.
So did wolves, cougars, elk, moose, lynx, wolverines, bighorn sheep, black bears, deer, and almost everything else trying to cross one of the busiest highways in the Rockies.
The Trans-Canada Highway cuts through Banff National Park for 82 km. For decades, it did what highways do: split habitat in half, severed migration routes, isolated populations, and turned animal movement into roadkill.
So Parks Canada tried something that sounded ridiculous to a lot of people at the time: they built wildlife bridges and tunnels.
They look nice, but they're far from a decoration. Forested overpasses wide enough for grizzlies and elk. Dark underpasses for cougars and black bears. Fencing along the highway to keep animals off the pavement and guide them toward safe crossings.
At the time, critics called it a waste of money and editorials opined that animals would never use them.
Fortunately, animals don't read opinion pieces. Since monitoring began, wildlife have used Banff’s crossings more than 250,000 documented times.
Grizzlies took years to trust them. Elk started testing them while they were still under construction. Different species chose different designs: grizzlies and elk tended to prefer wide, open overpasses, while cougars and black bears often used narrower underpasses.
The results were not subtle. Wildlife-vehicle collisions dropped by more than 80% overall. For elk and deer, they dropped by more than 96%.
Banff now has one of the most studied wildlife crossing systems on Earth, and countries around the world have looked to it as a model.
Maybe Vance doesn't know this history because it's in one of the books his administration banned.
The difference between Watergate and now is that back then, Republicans actually did something about a law-breaking president. Today, they only roll over for their cult leader.
The whooping crane is one of the world’s most endangered birds. Of the 800 or so left on earth, about two-thirds are wild and migrate every year between Texas and Canada.
So OF COURSE the Trump administration removed all protections and plans to eliminate about 12% of their critical migratory habitat in the wetlands of Texas.
So Trump, Doug Burgum, and their developer buddies can profit off the land.
When these birds are gone, they're gone forever.
Fuck this administration.

It has been remarkable to see so many public figures, on left and right alike, standing up to oppose the systematic abuse of pigs. The "Save Our Bacon Act," which would privilege abuse of pigs over the right of voters to ban it, is in real trouble. Thank God.

What Joyce Carol Oates wrote to Elon Musk on Twitter. I am told it rattled him. I love it.
“So curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciates – scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend’s or relative’s accomplishment; condolences for someone who has died; pleasure in sports, acclaim for a favorite team; references to history. In fact he seems totally uneducated, uncultured. The poorest persons on Twitter may have access to more beauty & meaning in life than the ‘most wealthy person in the world.’”
People will do whatever it takes to help a sick dog. They empty their accounts at the vet. A pig feels everything that dog feels, but all they get is a factory farm. I've never heard anyone explain the difference except which one they happened to grow up eating.
Trump cant allow anyone in the Epstein files to be charged because his name would come up in their trial.
The ENTIRE Republican party is protecting Trump & the Epstein Elite.
I’m sick and tired of people mocking those who care about the planet. Clean air matters. Living forests matter. Healthy oceans matter. Animals matter. Biodiversity matters. Wanting a livable world for future generations should not be controversial.
My coworker and I were talking about capitalism, and she said, “The Earth is a resort for like 500 rich people, and the rest of us are just the staff.”
Now I can't unsee it.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the extraordinary outbursts of the President of the United States against female journalists... well, actually against journalists in general and journalism. But it feels like he saves his most childlike behavior and irrational language for female reporters, calling them all kinds of names that kids in kindergarten are given times out for. It’s stunning to me to witness such behavior from any leader, any CEO, any person of influence or importance. I’ve never witnessed someone like this raging, this weekend with @meetthepress host @kwelkernbc, just last week in the Oval Office with @cnn’s @kaitlancollins, calling women stupid or piggy, telling them to “smile”, calling them darling, demeaning their credibility. Every good man should denounce this behavior. Every person should be able to stand up for their colleagues and say “No more.”
Imagine this man screaming like this at your daughter, your wife, your sister, your mother... would you stand for it? No, you wouldn’t! And neither should any of us. It’s unacceptable and undignified. Period. End of story.
When you visit Edmonton Valley Zoo,don't see Lucy as an icon.
See her for what she is: a wild elephant stolen from her Sri Lankan home at age 2,forced into 48 years alone in Canada's coldest city.
This isn't conservation. It's theft imprisonment.
Would you accept this for child?
This is really stupid, and it’s not getting enough attention.
The Trump administration is pulling a working $368 million ocean monitoring system out of the water, equipment taxpayers already bought, built, and sank into the deep ocean.
And they are doing it right when the oceans are behaving in ways that alarm the scientists who study them.
Record-breaking temperatures.
A system of Atlantic currents that may be lurching toward collapse.
The response?
Yank out the instruments and walk away.
That is not budgeting. That is smashing the gauges while the engine is on fire and calling it efficiency.
For what? The Trump administration dressed it up as a “nimbler approach” and “smart lifecycle management,” which is fancy nonsense for “we shut it off and hoped nobody would ask why.” There is no return-on-investment analysis. They cannot show taxpayers save a dime, because the gear is already paid for and the science it produces protects real money and real lives.
The kicker: the same people killing the monitors want to mine the deep sea for minerals. So they are destroying the only tools that could measure what that mining does. That is not an accident.
That is the point. You cannot see the damage if you break the instruments first.

Colombia has drawn a hard line: Bullfighting will be banned nationwide by 2027. Cockfighting by 2028. These public arenas will be turned into spaces for music, sports, and culture. We can move past animal cruelty as a tradition.
